Check My Brain Lyrics
And so I found myself in the sun, oh yeah…
A hell of a place to end a run, oh yeah…
California, I'm fine,
Somebody check my brain
California's alright,
Somebody check my brain
I walked these streets a creep in a fog, oh yeah…
When she sang I answered the call, oh yeah…
California, I'm fine,
Somebody check my brain
California's alright,
Somebody check my brain
Tears that filled my bong…
Years expended gone…
I hung my guns and put 'em away, oh yeah…
A trick of the trade and by the way, oh yeah…
California, I'm fine,
Somebody check my brain
California's alright,
Somebody check my brain
Tears that filled my bong,
Years expended gone.
Tears that filled my bong,
Years expended gone.
A hell of a place to end a run, oh yeah…
Somebody check my brain
California's alright,
Somebody check my brain
When she sang I answered the call, oh yeah…
Somebody check my brain
California's alright,
Somebody check my brain
Years expended gone…
A trick of the trade and by the way, oh yeah…
Somebody check my brain
California's alright,
Somebody check my brain
Years expended gone.
Tears that filled my bong,
Years expended gone.

This song means Alice in Chains is back!
That intro riff gets me everytime, Cantrell is still king.
is he being sarcastic when saying, "So I found myself in the sun, oh yeah A hell of a place to end a run, oh yeah"?
"I walk these streets, I creep and I fall, oh yeah" maybe he's not used to the place hes staying in. like the aforementioned move from seattle to LA. hes saying California's alright - better than expected? he didnt expect to feel that was so he says "check my brain"
"So I found myself in the sun, oh yeah A hell of a place to end a run, oh yeah"
That's an awesome way to put it, if you think about it.
The humor in this song is that Layne expressed contempt for LA. I have to wonder if that has anything to do with Cantrell saying "Check my brain, this isn't so bad." (paraphrasing) It's about Jerry moving to LA.
I hope California doesn't fall off the map, Jerry will have nothing to write about!
Oh-I think Jerr will still be able to find something to write about.

learn to swim
learn to swim
this for anybody could be a song about moving on from a darker time of drug dependancy, but for jerry cantrell, it's about his move from seattle to la...check my brain is in reference to all the drugs he's done in the past...nowadays he's clean.
I was skeptical about checking out this album, mostly because I thought there would be no point, but I was proven wrong. Even without Layne, Alice In Chains are still rockin'. This song and "Your Desicion" have to be my favorites off the album.
@NeverXMind Both B2B and Dinosaurs are great albums.

i have to agree with you man that intro riff is sick...They're Back!!
Oh hell yeah, Alic In Chains kicks ass. Love the song. Wicked tune.
oops...ALICE IN CHAINS. there, it's a sin to mispell their name.
