Plus, Robie said in an interview (lead singer, keep up) that this song is kind of sad and sinister, 'these girls fall like dominos...' he can't keep one, even if he tries, and that's not what he wants, maybe he wants to settle down, but he's so addicted to having all these girls that throw themselves at him. He's kind of helpless, controlled by his own desires.

I think the first verse is:

Honestly, I think the song is written from the POV of a huge douche-bag. This talk of "dominos" reads like a caricature of the macho "game" attitude among dudes, a pretty chauvinistic if not downright disdainful metaphor for women.

Also, I "really love breaking your heart"? This guy is a fucking sociopath.

There's an interview with Milo Cordell on laist.com. This is what he says about "Dominos": "The chorus was written in the back of a car with Robbie. We were listening to Al Green and we were talking about doing something like his choruses. Then this tiny bit of a song came into my head and I started singing, "Dominoes dominoes," which is really odd. It arrived like visual thing. It's written about that kind of thing in love where you try and replace someone who you've lost. There's this temporary vacuous period between loves. It's about the weakness of man, where we get lost in one night stands. It's very tongue in cheek and a bit crass. It's about the crassness of man, which is both sad and true. to me this song is about a fear of comitment "talks of futurer with you makes me ill" i dunno maybe its just coz im a comitmentaphobe myself that i think this.....

Agreed with the people who think the song's a bit egotistical. To me, the song's essentially about the kind of guy who can't or won't commit, maybe had a girl he DID love and it ended badly, so now he takes it out on other women. He just goes around breaking hearts one after another, thinking of it as a kind of game, something to do for fun. Like Dominoes. The kind of guy who's all about the chase -- maybe he even really thinks he likes the latest girl! Until he catches her. As soon as they say those "three words," he's sick of her. "As soon as I love her, it's been too long." Then he's off to conquer another girl. I think the song's about this feeling and this act, which he does trying to make himself feel good, even though it doesn't work.

Reading the previous comment about the interview reinforces my view. I have to say I'm glad the singer doesn't think it's a nice song either.

I think its pretty obvious that the song is about a guy's falling out with a girl/multiple girls. The lyrics lean towards the notion that he gets sick of his relationships after so long and they have bad endings because of that.

A great song nonetheless, I really love this band, I hope they crank out more hits, they have a great unique sound.

This band will be massive keep it up lads!

I think the point of this song isn't that he gets sick of the relationships, but about how the girls are crazy in love with him before he even thinks about that. They fall like dominos- easily and in great numbers. It's deliciously egotistical.

And is it just me, or does he say "kames" instead of "makes"? What is that, verbal dyslexia?
