Dreamland Lyrics
A mother sets the dinner table.
Sun crashes to the pavement, yeah.
A father workin' just to make ends.
We spend our lives just tryin' to make sense
Of it...
But I, I feel love, I feel the power.
It comes to me in the darkest hour.
And I want to feel it again!
In this dreamland, the kids are alright.
And the sky is blue
We all got wings and know how to fly.
I'm headed to the moon.
Sun on my face,
My head in the clouds.
Time on my side,
My feet off the ground
I'm not coming down.
Not coming down.
Summer ends, the ocean dries up.
A stranger dies, and no one gives a
fuck.
I take a look over my shoulder
All my friends are getting older.
I'm not coming...
Change just to change.
Break just to break.
Blame just to blame
My head in the clouds,
Feet on the ground.
I'm not coming down!
In this dreamland, the kids are alright.
And the sky is blue
We all got wings and know how to fly.
I'm headed to the moon.

first comment baby..! no words.. awesome!!
amazing song!! love it
This song seems so happy and uplifting, and then I realize how sad it is that what is described only exists in the 'dreamland.'
I see it as either blind happiness, or fantasizing about happiness and a 'happy place.'
These lyrics are ridiculously wrong.

Actually I typed the lyrics out from the booklet so I really hope they fit... Correct me if I'm wrong anyways...
I partly agree with Fallen Leaves. The song sounds quite happy (a bit like most songs since Gravity) but really it's a sad song, because it's only in the Dreamland that "the kids are allright and the sky is blue".
The way the song starts about Mother setting the table and Dad working hard reminds me of my own childhood. Raine and OLP grew up in the 70's and 80's and the world was definitely a different place then. We tended to know our neighbours more, as kids we'd just go play outside and roam the streets and we'd be safe. Further the song says that a man dies and no one gives a fuck. We don't know our neighbours anymore. All his friends are getting older, things are changing, sometimes just for the sake of changing.
I think this is a nostalgia song. To me it's a childhood memory song.
Beautifully explained. I agree.
