This song obviously continues the story of Chine White from the preceding albums. The Gardener has buried China White in his garden to help his flowers grow but it hasn't worked as he had planned. He feels a level a regret for what he's basically done for nothing as China White's remains are not helping his garden grow. So he stands over his garden, China White's grave, and mourns the loss of both her and his precious garden.
This band is just outright amazing. They do an incredible job of telling a story through their music and you rarely see a concept from a song travel through the rest of a band's albums. The China White series of songs are definitely my favorite, hands down.
Truly Outrageous! With every album, He Is Legend does something completely unexpected and amazing! Such originality! Such depth not only in lyrical content but in their instrumentals, as well! They constantly remind me why they are my favorite band. Cannot wait for their new CD.

I wrote the lyrics according to the album booklet.
I think it's 'bring the rain, or bring the spade' as in, if the rain doesn't come the plant cannot grow thus a waste of space, it needs removing.
continuing the story of china white. He has given up on a long painful belief that china would grow into what he dreamt. He says, "Don't cry for me dear, I'm alive and I'm right here" meaning china don't act like you know the pain I'm experiencing because I have been putting my blood and tears into this for much longer. Realizing now that there was nothing to hope for.

further notated, that quote was saying that china white's tears is showing that she is emotionally involved into this situation. Yet he knows that he is the only one that really is attached and loved her. And that he is the only one always within arms reach, unlike china white.
Can someone explain what the china white series actually means? Every time I try to figure it out, I just end up singing it, it's not too helpful.
