This song is about people being judged, and even though they are misunterstood, they'll stick together to stand up for what they believe in. The video was basically Andy Sixx (singer) Explaining how he can relate to his fans and he knows what they are going through just because of apearence. His main message was "Never Give In."

Everyone's already posted what this means, but I'm bored and feel like doing a complete breakdown of the lyrics, so here ya go:

I wouldn't necessarily say that it's about loosing faith in terms of religion, more about loosing faith in people.

"But stay right here we can change our plight. We're storming through this despite what's right."

If you're willing to fight for what you believe (even if it's not really right to fight for it), you can change what you're fighting against.

"One final fight, for this tonight. With knives and pens we made our plight."

Not so sure about this one, but personally, I think it's a bit of a nod to the stereotypes of "emos"- they write and they cut to "make their plight" (show that something's wrong).

Put aside everything that bothers you, and fight for what you believe is right.

You have to keep fighting back- nothing changes overnight. You have to keep fighting for it.

Knives and Pens is all about Andy Six's experiences. Most people cut themselves when they are depressed because the physical pain distracts them from the emotional. Andy said he wrote this song to save these people before things got to bad by telling them to write (pens) instead of cutting (knives).

Well honestly this song has helped me out alot lately.I've been called emo,and been told to go kill myself and people have even broken into my locker and left a knife in it. I think this song means that people will sterotype you but you can get through it it also makes me feel like andy is telling his fans that hes been there and he understands

ok now lets get real here,,,this song is basiclly about the people who stand out and the ones who stand out, but doesn't know how to express themselves. Andy sixx is teling about his life as when he felt the same way , about how he was cutting himslf, but instead he fow a better alternative.as in writting music.
