The Forgotten Lyrics

You were once source of a pureness that can't be defined
And now you curse the day, how can you leave your faith behind?

Just look at yourself, do you like what you see?
I want no more of you, watch me walk away

This is the last time, you are the forgotten
You let your dreams die, you are the forgotten

Placed your ego about all but misplaced your innocence

Just look at yourself, do you like what you see?
I want no more of you, watch me walk away

This is the last time, you are the forgotten
You let your dreams die, you are the forgotten

What you have given up will never return again
Now you're dead inside, I hope it was worth the cost
I hope it was worth the cost I hope it was worth the cost
Now you're buried alive

This is the last time
This is the last time, you are the forgotten
You let your dreams die, you are the forgotten

I think he could be talking to himself in this song. Maybe he's realizing what's become of him and has decided to leave that person behind to become better.

I think he's talking about someone who was orignially becoming who they wanted and doing what they wanted, but then they just decided to give up, and no one really cared if they did or not.

"You let your dreams die, you are the forgotten."

Song Meaning

Usually when Howard is talking about himself it is clear but he could most def be talking about himself or to himself or it is a little of both to himself an older version or to himself and someone he knew. People may not know but Killswitch is clearly a Christian band and it’s obvious if you know scripture and look at their lyrics. Now Howard clearly in his life left his faith and had a bad breakup that brought him back and/or death of a loved one. So these lyrics are talking about someone possibly himself who turned their back on God and gave into their self/ego to gain something but in the process lost their humanity their compassion and faith and Howard had to say goodbye to that person or version of himself but it was a hard goodbye and took a long time and repeated attempts so this was him stating this is the last time I’ll remember that experience and have to forget it again. Because he is finally done rehashing not done dealing with that person because all attempts have failed.
