Fire On The Mountain Lyrics

Fire on the mountain
through the freeze, save yourself
there's evil in the garden
but you don't see it, I can tell

how do you sleep while the city's burning?
where do you go when you can't go home?
how do you drink when there's blood in the water?
where do you turn when the world moves on?

fire on the mountain
you can feel it against your skin
you're standing by the river
let the river take you in

how do you sleep while the city's burning?
where do you go when you can't go home?
how do you drink when there's blood in the water?
where do you turn when the world moves on?

hell, I see smoke out on the horizon
mama, get your baby, take her down to the water
I view the wind like a promise broken
I see the future but it's getting farther

I see smoke out on the horizon
mama, get your baby, take her down to the water
I view the wind like a promise broken
I see the future but it's getting farther

how do you sleep while the city's burning?
where do you go when you can't go home?
how do you drink when there's blood in the water?
where do you turn when the world moves on?

When the world moves on
When the world moves on
When the world moves on
When the world moves on

When the world moves on

this song sounds familiar. is it a cover song? i recognise some of the lines, and the guitar riff...

Serenity23 pretty much got the idea of the song.

i must add one line "where do you turn when the world moves on" may refer to some places where a natural disaster or the like has occurred, and the 'world moves on' when the event finally stops being played in the mass-media, but you're still stuck with the damage of the war/disaster/etc and you're forgotten SO, 'where do you turn to?'

In opinion, I think this song sheds light on adaptability and survival.

When "the world moves on", it may be a reference to how in this moment of time everything is unpredictable, and can shift at anytime, even for the worst. The line "I see the future but it's getting farther" sounds like your perception of the future is beginning to become unlike what is happening. I think it raises the question if you can adapt yourself.

My Opinion

It's like how in the world we see all the bad things and do nothing about it. 'How can you sleep while the city's burning How do you drink when there's blood in the water' It is like the present how we pretend life is perfect everywhere and ignore the hard times other people are having. And he feels like the good future is fading away. And people should save themselves before they get the bad end.

I always thought of it as being about a war. Breakdown:

Fire on the mountain through the freeze, save yourself there's evil in the garden but you don't see it, I can tell

-Most people do not fully realize how terrible things can get. It's evil and destructive, but many donot know the full extent of it.

how do you sleep while the city's burning? where do you go when you can't go home? how do you drink when there's blood in the water? where do you turn when the world moves on?

-how can people live when something as terrible as a war is happening. Rhetorical Questions.

hell, I see smoke out on the horizon mama, get your baby, take her down to the water I view the wind like a promise broken I see the future but it's getting farther

-Mamma, save your child. Water represents safety from the 'fire'. "I see the future but it's getting farther" = It's getting more and more difficult to decipher the future of our world. Peace is getting harder and harder to imagine
