Remedy Lyrics

I can see you stalking like a predator
I've been here before
Temptation calls like Adam to the apple
But I will not be caught
'Cause I can read those velvet eyes
And all I see is lights

[chorus]:
No more poison killin' my emotion
I will not be frozen
Dancin' is my remedy, remedy, oh
Stop, stop prayin' cause I'm not, not playin'
I'm not frozen, dancin' is my remedy, remedy oh
Move while you're watching me dance with the enemy
I've got a remedy, oh, oh, oh
Move while you're watching me dance with the enemy
Here is my remedy, oh, oh, oh

Spin me faster, like a kaleidoscope
All I've got's the floor
Yeah you can try but I find the antidote
Music is the cure
So you can try to paralyze
But I know best this time

[chorus]

[vocalization]

And when the music fades away I know I'll be okay
Contagious rhythm's in my brain: let it play

[chorus]

"Move while you're watching me dance with the enemy" ???? Why is she dancing with the enemy? That is betrayal and intended to hurt someone. Why is she glorifying this?

Song Meaning

Here is my take on the lyrics to this song. Though I'm not so sure how accurate it is, it's just what I think when I hear the song.

I can see you stalking like a predator I've been here before Temptation calls like Adam to the apple But I will not be caught 'Cause I can read those velvet eyes And all I see are lies

This part is about how the singer is at some sort of dance club and someone, the "predator" is flirting with / trying to seduce her, but she's not going to fall for his charisma, or his act, and get caught up in his web. In other words, she's not going to fall for his seduction this time - she knows better.

No more poison Killing my emotion I will not be frozen Dancing is my remedy, remedy

This part is about how she's not going to let the aforementioned someone ruin her fun or make her sad, 'cause she's not going to give him a chance, and that she's going to dance and just have fun instead.

Stop, stop prayin' 'Cause I'm not playin' I'm not frozen Dancin' is my remedy, remedy

Pretty much, "stop prayin' 'cause I'm not playing" means, again, she's not going to play his game and fall for his tricks (again, possibly, as the song possibly suggests that it happened before and she's smart enough not to fall for it a second time.)

Then most of that just repeats with different lyrics, but the same general meaning. The girl isn't going to fall for his charm and she's just there to dance, and just letting go, having fun and dancing is keeping her from considering doing anything more. Oh, and the "dancing with the enemy" part could be about her dancing with the guy who was trying to seduce her.

Summary: Not a chance mister, I'm dancing the night away and not going to fall for any of your tricks 'cause I know how to ignore them.

Or something like that. Now that's what came to my head, but I'd love to see a different take on this. :'D So if anyone wants to contribute another idea...? Do so~

I would agree with the gist of what @Synthem is saying in that the "you" person being addressed here is clearly not wanted and she is going to great lengths to establish how little sway this person has over her.

I would, however, go one step further: This is not merely some random beautiful stranger who is attempting to get in her pants, this is a toxic ex who she is glad to be out from under (literally and figuratively).

This is why she's putting so much emphasis on how free she is now that this person isn't affecting her mood anymore. This is also why she is/was in need of a "remedy" to begin with. Toxic relationship has ended, you need to get your head clear. And it is also why this other person, the anonymous person she's now dancing with and having no-strings fun with is considered a full-blown "ENEMY" by the "you" character. A non-toxic adult person would move on, but this "you" is stalking her from the shadows and seething at the idea that there's somebody else.

If you know people like that, narcissts and borderline abusers, you know that's how they view the world.
