Regaining consciousness under a swinging moon,
he speaks of alliances that beckoned me long before the womb.
I've caused more wounds than I'm worth. I see now, you must not have heard...
I am the natural born killer.
There is freedom past your history.
"This air won't fill my lungs!"
Because you should be breathing blood.
See, this death, it was your victory so...
"Teach me to fill my lungs!" ...never stop breathing blood.
I had it all so very wrong, but I fought... I fought with only song.
God, I've tried... I'm trying like a beast all alone, but my words...
my words have aired in poison.
Please teach me how to breathe because this air keeps failing my need.
Fill my lungs with what wont bleed from my enemies.
He said, "If death is victory how afraid of life can you be?"
I'm born a war machine not knowing which beckon to heed.
Will I rise as a tool for glory or be lost in dormancies?
I've regained consciousness under this swinging moon.
You filled my lungs and each breath heals this killer's wounds.
There is freedom past your history.
"But this air won't fill my lungs!"
Because you should be breathing blood.
See, this death, it was your victory so...
"Teach me to fill my lungs!" ...never stop breathing blood.
I hear him speaking to me. For the first time he cleared my head... that's when he said,
"Only cowards keep dormant their sleeping strength, and soon you'll find,
only the fearless will reach their potential's peak."
(What will wing these words if even the air is poisoned?
If the air is poisoned, what will wing these words?)
"Tell me, If death is victory how afraid of life can we be?
If death is victory how afraid of life can we be?"

i think this is about becoming a christian.

"I am the natural born killer. There is freedom past your history."- forgiveness of your past

"This air won't fill my lungs!" Because you should be breathing blood."- The world's pleasures wont make you completely happy or satifisfy you. only God's love, presence, and relationship can fill that emptiness

"Only cowards keep dormant their sleeping strength, and soon you'll find, only the fearless will reach their potential's peak."- without fear you can accomplish anything. (hence the verse about you can do all thing through Christ)

this might not be truly what it means. but its what i get out of it.

It does seem like a song about finding Christ, or as I like to say, Christ taking you. He speaks as a man who seems like he wants to believe, but just can't seem to find it.

"If death is victory, how afraid of life can we be?" I love that line. I think it means that if letting go of your pride, giving your life to Christ is the greatest achievement, then how terrible could the world be to us? What more can they do than what God can? We are to fear the Lord and nothing else. I also like to refer to this line as the Martyr's Philosophy. It does describe the mindset of a martyr, good or bad. Just thought I'd throw that in there.

"Only cowards keep dormant their sleeping strength, and soon you'll find, only the fearless will reach their potentials peak" That is also an amazing line, and may be my favorite, because that can go with anyone. Christian or not, if you show no fear to the merciless world, then nothing can keep you from your goals.

    Song Meaning

This song is one of my favorites that Oh, sleeper has done. So I'm going to share what I think it means.

Step by step: "Regaining consciousness-" he is a Christian who wondered off from God and everything of the world has left him confused (because of letdown) "-under the swinging moon-". "He speaks of alliances that beckoned me long before the womb" God has been and is calling him (the man) back to Him (God). "I've caused more wounds than I'm worth." he feels he does not deserve God's grace, mercy, or redemption because he has sinned more than he's worth. "I see now, you must not have heard... I am the natural born killer." basically saying "I don't deserve this forgiveness because, in nature, I've been born to sin from the start.". CHORUS: Not for sure, but i believe it is voiced from God except for the quoted parts. "There is freedom past your history" God saying "i will still forgive you even though you've fallen" "This air won't fill my lungs!" The man saying "The world cannot satisfy me" then God replying "Because you should be breathing blood." in other words "I am the only one that can satisfy you" "See, this death, it was your victory so..." "this death" meaning Jesus' death, "was your victory" meaning that since Jesus has conquered death and claimed victory over sin, then this man's forgiveness has been paid for (just not by him) "Teach me to fill my lungs!... never stop breathing blood" obviously "I'm looking to you for satisfaction from now on" then God replying "You only need me for satisfaction, nothing else" "I had it all so very wrong, but I fought... I fought with only song." this was the foggy part for me but I think it's saying that the man was going about everything all wrong, but he was still fighting with God in mind just in the wrong way, and "I fought with only song" means he was all talk but didn't act on his words (a hypocrite). "God, I've tried... I'm trying like a beast all alone" he has tried to follow God, but he didn't have God with him because he was following the wrong path. "but my words... my words have aired in poison." again saying that he has followed the completely wrong path (with the world) "Please teach me how to breathe because this air keeps failing my need. Fill my lungs with what wont bleed from my enemies." this line sums up the song saying "God, show me the true path. I don't want to follow the path the hypocrites follow, because following this world is getting me nowhere" "He said, If death is victory how afraid of life can you be?" this is the man arguing with himself (him against his worldly self) saying "why should I be afraid to do God's will when even if they kill me I will still of have had victory?" (this could be in the apocalypse because then people will persecute Christians to the point of death) "I'm born a war machine not knowing which beckon to heed. Will I rise as a tool for glory or be lost in dormancies?" saying that he is too eager to fight for something to know if it's what he should be fighting for. "I've regained consciousness under this swinging moon." or "I know who to follow now, through all the confusion, and I'm letting God take control, and doing his will" "I hear him speaking to me. For the first time he cleared my head..." now that he has giving all of himself to God's will, God has made his will clear to him. "that's when he said, Only cowards keep dormant their sleeping strength, and soon you'll find, only the fearless will reach their potential's peak." God showing him that only cowards don't give all of themselves because they are afraid of reputation loss, relationship loss, death, losing items, going poor, etc... and only the fearless, who give all of themselves, can reach their potential of doing God's will and bringing people and glory to Him. "(What will wing these words if even the air is poisoned? If the air is poisoned, what will wing these words?)" the man is talking to God, basically asking "who will reach their potential if they are a hypocrite?" then the last and most powerful line "Tell me, If death is victory how afraid of life can we be? If death is victory how afraid of life can we be?" is God simply replying "Why would anyone be feared into being a hypocrite if they have nothing to be afraid of?".

WELL there it is. That's what i thought it meant. Sorry this is such a long message, but these are very profound lyrics.

Techno Ted
Audioslave
Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
