You are no God to me
You are nothing to me
This is the reckoning

Enjoy this while it lasts
It won't be long before it dies

You've stolen lives, and broken dreams
No man can be a guillotine

You are no God to me
This is a reckoning
You are nothing to me
This is the reckoning

Was the penance not enough?
Was the strength not enough?
No man can be a guillotine

You are no God to me
This is a reckoning
You are nothing to me
This is the reckoning
And I will be there
To see you fall
You are no God to me
There is the reckoning

The betrayed, will now see the truth
And the broken-hearted, will finally yell
You will be judged
You will be found wanting
And we'll be there to see you fall

You are no God to me
This is the reckoning
You are nothing to me
This is the reckoning
And I will be there
To see you fall
You are no God to me
There is the reckoning

I dont think it really fits god because it says "no man can be a deity." (above lyrics are slightly off) I think it talks much about corrupt leaders such as Kim Jong Il who tricks his country into thinking he is a god. They teach the kids in school there that he was spawned from the top of some mountain in korea which is like a holy place. People like him, muammar gaddafi, and Sadaam Hussein could also be fitting to the song. Another potential view i have could be that the song is about the pope (not so much the modern popes but the ones who called for such things as indulgences.)

Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.
