This is about bronies. They communicate by stomping.
Is this it at the top
I didn't know there was not a ceiling
Or that the air up here was so thin
I just want my wanting to stop
I know you warned us of drought
We didn't believe it
Now we can't keep water from freezing
You are just in time to move aside
No one ever comes here stays for long
You're gonna be dethroned
You're gonna shed your pride
Overgrown
There's a kid on the cover
And I know that he doesn't believe
In the misery that he sings
Yea it's just what he thinks he needs
If all the world's a stage then it's not mine
'Cause no eye ever stays on you for long
You're gonna be dethroned
You're gonna shed your pride
It keeps growing
And you are just in time to move aside
No one ever comes here stays for long
You're gonna be dethroned
You're gonna shed your pride
If all the world's a stage then it's not mine
'Cause no eye ever stays on you for long
Yea you're gonna be dethroned
You're gonna shed your pride
Overgrown
I didn't know there was not a ceiling

I just want my wanting to stop
I know you warned us of drought
We didn't believe it
Now we can't keep water from freezing

Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

My boyfriend is convinced this song is about Craig Owens of Chiodos. He uses the lyrics "all the worlds a stage" and actually has this tattooed across his chest. And also " and i know that he doesn't believe in the misery that he sings"
It's an interesting way to look at it. Any thoughts?
all the world's a stage is a reference to shakespeare
i agree with your boyfriend.<br /> the part of the song that says.<br /> <br /> "There's a kid on the cover"<br /> (talking about magazines, and perhaps the fact that Craig is the frontman of chiodos)<br /> <br /> And I know that he doesn't believe <br /> In the misery that he sings<br /> Yea it's just what he thinks he needs "<br /> <br /> really it's a total shot at craig, if you ask me.<br /> and besides, what's the chances that two alternative bands are quoting the exact same line of shakespeare? <br /> it's especially bait, since it's tattooed on craig's chest, and it's in his song (undertaker's thirst for revenge).<br /> <br /> for anyone who doesn't know,<br /> craig posted that there was a band that bashed him in their lyrics. as cities burn is our best bet. (he has too much integrity to post the band name up on his site, so we don't know for sure.)<br /> <br /> apparently, (don't quote me, i'm not sure)<br /> the mystery band in question (not nessessarily ACB, this is just a suspicion) sent him an email saying that yes, the song they wrote is about him.<br /> <br /> i believe it's ACB.<br /> what does anyone else think of this? (:
Agreed. Listening to the song more and more I really think it's directly about him.
It may fit but its just a coincidence. From the horses mouth:<br /> <br /> twitter.com/craigeryowens/status/1699335788
yeah this song is a piss at craig owens
I asked Cody Bonnette and he told me it was about Lil Wayne.
If he wants to take a shot at Chiodos or whoever their singer is, he can. The lyrics Cody writes are immensly better than anything I've ever read from Chiodos.
I doubt this is about Craig Owens... As Cities Burn is a band with incredible integrity, I doubt they would stoop so low. If this is the song was talking about it was probably a misunderstanding. <br />
