Into the Fire Lyrics
This the film close to the third act and the misery,
It's not rain you rapist, werewolves,
It's god pissing down on you.
We'll die alone because I'll break off my own arms,
Sharpen my bones,
Stab you once for each time I fool you.
Trying to take something,
You'll never be good enough
To even look upon.
It's better to push something when it's slipping,
Then to risk being dragged down,
If you wanna hit bottom,
Don't bother trying to take me with you,
And I won't answer if you call,
Two heartbeats of air,
And Hell trying to break,
Your fall,
Your fall.
This isn't mine, won't need to change the names,
Everyone around you has murdered someone, somethin’ sacred,
Is there one nail without dirt under it?
Is there any white cotton panties that aren't soaked and stained red?
It's better to push something when it's slipping,
Then to risk being dragged down,
If you wanna hit bottom,
Don't bother trying to take me with you,
And I won't answer if you call,
Two heartbeats of air,
And Hell trying to break,
Your fall,
Your fall.
Into the Fire,
Into the Fire,
Into the Fire,
Into the Fire,
Fire, oooohh!
Into the Fire,
Fire, oooohh!
Into the Fire,
Fire, oooohh!
Into the Fire,
Fire, oooohh!
It's not rain you rapist, werewolves,
It's god pissing down on you.
We'll die alone because I'll break off my own arms,
Sharpen my bones,
Stab you once for each time I fool you.
Trying to take something,
You'll never be good enough
To even look upon.
Then to risk being dragged down,
If you wanna hit bottom,
Don't bother trying to take me with you,
And I won't answer if you call,
Two heartbeats of air,
And Hell trying to break,
Your fall,
Your fall.
Everyone around you has murdered someone, somethin’ sacred,
Is there one nail without dirt under it?
Is there any white cotton panties that aren't soaked and stained red?
Then to risk being dragged down,
If you wanna hit bottom,
Don't bother trying to take me with you,
And I won't answer if you call,
Two heartbeats of air,
And Hell trying to break,
Your fall,
Your fall.
Into the Fire,
Into the Fire,
Into the Fire,
Fire, oooohh!
Fire, oooohh!
Fire, oooohh!
Fire, oooohh!

This is one of the two songs that Manson wrote on christmas (the other is If I Was Your Vampire, in 2006). He wrote it in 2008, after cutting himself 158 times with a razor blade for every unanswered call from his girlfriend at that moment, Evan Rachel Wood. He said:
"The record is really about the metaphor that exists in all great and historic literature: Lucifer falling from heaven, losing his wings, and wanting to fall in love with someone who is mortal. [It's about] the inability to find love, so you want to destroy everyone else's love. that's the story of my life. By the time I got to Into the Fire, I thought that was the last song on the record. It has a very epic musical ending with one of the greatest guitar solos in music. Twiggy blew me away; it made me cry. I thought this was the way the record has to end, this is the way my life is, at the edge of no real hope. I've become a total cold-hearted monster..."
Maybe the message in this song is that is better to be alone or on your own, than in bad company. Especially in the pre-chorus:
"It's better to push something when it's slipping than to risk being dragged down"
I think the chorus is the Wood's point of view about this:
If you want to hit bottom Don't bother to try taking me with you I won't answer if you call
she doesn't want to be in his deppresive state with him. And "I won't answer if you call" it's an obvious reference to the 158 calls.
another line that makes us understand the song is:
"You'll never be good enough to even look upon"
he's telling her that she will never realize how he is suffering, and that she will never care about that.
"And I won't live to rip you cold" = "and I won't answer if you call"
at least i read it at new-model dot com

(I live in Australia if you are wondering why i have it early)
Australians are cool (is australian).
to me, it's about letting go of a relationship that was doomed from the start, mainly because the other person was more than you thought you deserved. You gotta let it end because it will anyway.
OMG, you didn't say that did you. It's kind of like saying why get up each morning when you're going to die of old age eventually. UGH. Your logic is so off kilter that my head is spinning...and your post was from 2/2010!!! Wish I had read it MUCH sooner.

"It's not rain, you rapist werewolves It's God pissing down on you"
Manson is so good at dotting the i-s! I think the song is dedicated to the church and his early intense religious education.
I love the images he creates with this:
We'll die alone 'cause I'll break off my own arms Sharpen my bones And stab you once for each time I thought of you
x) Can you imagine an armless man trying to sharpen something?
This song is about the coming of the fruition of the album, that being before he had confused love with dependence and he confused desire with weakness; and by the end of this album he no longer confused those things. And so, he felt strong on his own even though he wanted her but didn't need her; and so since she wasn't all too committed to him he'd decided it was time to let go.
