this is probably the worst interpretation i'm going to make BUT regardless could this song be about his girlfriend? it depends on when they first got together but she was probably the help he needed when he went through those tough times. again...not sure at all but it's a nice song

i heart this song. it's probably about a friend, which is a girl. ans she always help him through bad times, .. he's a mess, but when she's around, he's becoming a better person, then, he sees that this girl is soooo good, that she's like a cure to him, then he asked himself, is he in love with this girl? and in the moment, he's alone, and he says that, he wants to be with this girl, and he doesn't care and he's willing to change all about himself just to be with this girl.

at the beginning of the song, the phrase: It's two O'Clock and I was sleeping, but I'm not feeling great. I took some pills to help my thinking, but now I'm thinking worse.

means that he can't get her off of his mind and nothing will help him to do that but to have her with him.

And in the rest of the song he explains that she is the key to solve his hectic life, she is the 'cure'. He also makes sure the girl knows exactly what she's in for with him, he's also not afraid of her changing her as I guess he accepts it because, she completes him in every way and he knows that it would be for the better. And at the very end he says that he knows this is love because he can't explain exactly how he feels, he can't put it into words, he just feels it and knows it's love.

This song is like, written for my boyfriend and I, it's weird. Especially the "I took the Key Bridge North to your parents' house" because we live in Maryland, he lives in Elkridge (which is near Ellicott City, where TDS is from), and my dad lives in Parkville, and you have to take the Key Bridge North to get there.
