i believe this song is written to the fans.

"and you say, sing sing to me, sing me something i need, sing new, sing good..."

bands come up with new records on an average of every few years. maybe MT was getting some pressure because fans weren't getting enough and just want more.

"don't you ever tell me i'm not loving you best."

i can't picture fans to be pressing and whiney, but they band makes it very clear that they so appreciate the support.

I read an interview alittle while ago. Josh said that he was under alot of presure to get a new album out fast after fix me. but he said that he didnt want to put out a record just to put one out. he wanted it to be good, so he took a chance and took his time to make his masterpiece theater.

i think that this song is about how he didnt want to let anyone down, including himself. he's trying his best to meet not only the fans exspectations, but his own. they're pushing and pushing for more, and he's trying his best, but the pressure isn't helping, its making it harder.

Im happy that he did resist the pressure though because masterpiece theater is truely a masterpiece.:)

I'm still not sure what it's about to be honest. But I would guess that it is about a relationship where the girl is always saying for him to sing, because that's his job. But in the end he cant anymore, hence why he is not eating or sleeping. He is just growing tired of it. Though he could be talking about keeping the relationship together and the singing is the love for her. Like how she is saying to tell him he loves her and all that but he just cant.

Also maybe she is too demanding. "you just need me to be stable but i won't be able to keep it together again." She wants him to be totally into the relationship but he simply cant. This is also shown by "All my indecision All of my excess Don't you ever tell me I'm not lovin' you best " He is trying his best but she wants too much from him. Well...this is just what I gathered from it (:
