I read an interview alittle while ago. Josh said that he was under alot of presure to get a new album
out fast after fix me. but he said that he didnt want to put out a record just to put one out. he wanted it to be good, so he took a chance and took his time to make his masterpiece theater.
i think that this song is about how he didnt want to let anyone down, including himself. he's trying his best to meet not only the fans exspectations, but his own. they're pushing and pushing for more, and he's trying his best, but the pressure isn't helping, its making it harder.
Im happy that he did resist the pressure though because masterpiece theater is truely a masterpiece.:)
