Q&A
A Hand at Dusk Lyrics
there's a hand at dusk
in the wake in the water its mine
can you take the palm of it
for every time you change your mind
you are the flash of skin
seen through the leaves of anxious trees
the summer's touch just above the knee
just above the knee
there's architecture here
and there are mountain peaks
and places dwelled upon by those
who climb much higher than me
like so many miles you are compiled
into books of maps by men with hands
can you believe that we will all get old
it's getting old i know, i know
i'll hold your hair back when you're sick
it's getting old i know, i know
you still look good to me in that knee-length checkered dress
it's getting old i know, i know
you still look good to me in that knee-length checkered dress
it's getting old
it's getting old
the emperor of time has been stationed
devidends melts into all forms of light (?)
i shall crack his bone
and chase him to far shores of the sea
implicate my dark appetite
the emperor of time has been stationed
when the paper ends, it melts into all forms of light (?)
i shall crush his bone
and chase him to the white shores of the sea
implicate my appetite
in the wake in the water its mine
can you take the palm of it
for every time you change your mind
you are the flash of skin
seen through the leaves of anxious trees
the summer's touch just above the knee
just above the knee
and there are mountain peaks
and places dwelled upon by those
who climb much higher than me

It sounds more to me like Spencer is saying: "You still look good to me in that knee length checkered dress"
And Carey: "To implicate my own dark appetite"
Definitely "knee-length checkered dress". Nice tie back to the opening verse where summer's touch is just above the knee. Beautiful song.

My suggestion is "where the cave ends and melts into all forms of light." Seems like something Plato-inspired, something I can imagine Carey Mercer singing.
im pretty sure everything is right except the parts with the (?), it's really hard to tell waht mercer is saying there.
a very beautiful melancholy song

I tried to do this one too. Here are the differences I heard: "flash of skin" "compiled into books of maps by men with pen" "I shall crack his dwelling" "I shall crush his dwelling"
It seems we're all pretty stumped with the ? parts. You might want to check out this forum: http://wolfparade.nonstuff.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1371 Someone else had some ideas but I don't know if I can steal them.
"The emperor of time has been stationed Where the pavement melts into all forms of light. I shall crush his dwelling And chase him to the far shoulders of the sea To implicated my own dark appetite."
