I have no idea what this song is about. And haven't really come close to figuring it out. any help?
Well i know he(Dev Hynes) once said that he was trying to write a song about someone else because he felt all his songs where about himself but then after recording it he realised it was interly about him.

But i think when he says "necks" he is talking about the neck of a beer bottle....
But i think when he says "necks" he is talking about the neck of a beer bottle. And then after that he talks about waking up (cos i think the line is "day light breaks" instead of "day by day") feeling lonely even though all these people are concerned about him.
'his new found friends...come down his throat'"lick and kiss there necks" I think there are two metaphors in the first sort of paragraph the first one is with the 'new found friends..come down his throat' as gay as that sounds i think its about this guy making new friends and hes sort of the barney gumble of the group the absolute shit faced alchoholic who everyone laughs at when hes drunk of his face, and lick & kiss there neck i think is about the neck of the beer bottle.
secondly the '1000 messages but not a soul in bed' hes getting a thousand messages from his new friends who want him to come out with him but hes having no luck with the ladies, because no one takes him seriously "just shout and shout" someones always shouting him drinks and by two hes getting loose "naked limbs" that either means that the only thing showing are his limbs and hes not getting any sex or its a metaphor for dancing and 'sweaty chest' you get sweaty when you dance or from throwing up.
i'd say that the song is about a guy who is constantly having meaningless sex. 1000 msgs but not a soul in his bed. Its the day after and his "partners" are all gone. He is in demand to be simply used for sex but he wants more. It takes more than... to keep this heart running. Wish i knew the lyric but i think it means it takes more than simply sex to keep him goin
