Replace You Lyrics
In a darkened room
right beside the bed
There an empty suitcase waits 'til I leave again.
I try to fill it up
with things that feel like home
but no matter what goes in, I still feel alone
When I'm on my own.
CHORUS
No pictures, no letters
Nothing can ever replace you.
Reminders, whatever
Nothing can ever replace you.
Now it's time to go
and you're still sound asleep
when you wake up, next to you just cold empty sheets.
I gather all my things
from off the bedroom floor
One more kiss reminds me of what I'm leaving for
Then I close the door.
CHORUS x2
Nothing can ever replace you
Nothing can ever replace you
You've stripped away and uncovered the real me
You've stripped away and uncovered the real me
You've stripped away and uncovered the real me
Oh...oh...
Oh...oh...
Oh...
CHORUS x2
right beside the bed
There an empty suitcase waits 'til I leave again.
with things that feel like home
but no matter what goes in, I still feel alone
When I'm on my own.
No pictures, no letters
Nothing can ever replace you.
Reminders, whatever
Nothing can ever replace you.
and you're still sound asleep
when you wake up, next to you just cold empty sheets.
from off the bedroom floor
One more kiss reminds me of what I'm leaving for
Then I close the door.
Nothing can ever replace you
You've stripped away and uncovered the real me
You've stripped away and uncovered the real me
Oh...oh...
Oh...

This sounds to me that he's not just, leaving her but leaving to go to war??? This line makes me think that: One more kiss reminds me of what I'm leaving for. He knows that nothing will be able to replace her why he's gone.
It sounds to me like he was a fraud or a con or some other terrible thing and she found out and now he thinks he's doing her a favour by walking away. But the truth is that if she is still comfortable with him in her bed, it means she doesn't mind and still loves him. So he's leaving for no reason. That's the sad part.
