You disappear with all your good intentions
And all I am is all I could not mention
Like who will bring me flowers when it's over
And who will give me comfort when it's cold

She took a plane to somewhere out in space
To start a life and maybe change the world
See I never meant for you to have to crawl
No I never meant to let you go at all
Oh, no
Oh, no
Don't ever say goodbye

See my head aches from all this thinkin'
Feels like a ship god, god knows I'm sinkin'
Wonder what you do and where it is you stay
These questions like a whirlwind, they carry me away

Who will bring me flowers when it's over
And who will give me comfort when it's cold
Who will I belong to when the day just won't give in
And who will tell me how it ends and how it all begins
Oh, no
Oh no
Don't ever say goodbye

I'm only human
I said I'm only human
I'm only human
I said I'm only human
I'm only human
I said I'm only human
I'm human I'm human I'm human
Yeah oh,
Yeah, oh

To me this song isn't necessarily about death, it's about something way more general that a lot more people could relate to. I think it's about loneliness and unintentionally pushing someone away because of an inexplicable emotional unavailability.

You disappear with all your good intentions And all I am is all I could not mention Like who will bring me flowers when it's over And who will give me comfort when it's cold

He had someone who was close to him but he kept pushing her away. He'd been hurt before so that's why he wasn't able to let her in. So after a while of her trying to come close, she saw that he just kept pushing her away and decided to stop trying. He didn't mean it though, he just didn't have the courage to say a lot of things and to tell her how much she meant to him and now that she left he regrets not saying those things. Now he wishes she could be beside him to be happy with him when he gets through a rough patch or to comfort him when he's going through a tough situation.

She took a plane to somewhere out in space To start a life and maybe change the world See I never meant for you to have to crawl No I never meant to let you go at all Oh, no Oh, no Don't ever say goodbye

After trying and trying to get close and always having the feeling that he doesn't want it, she stopped trying and left him alone. She preferred helping someone who appreciated her help, not knowing that so did he but he wasn't able to show it. He never meant for her to feel like she wasn't doing enough or like her help went unnoticed, but because he'd built an emotional wall, she interpreted it as apathy and ungratefulness. He never wanted her to leave him.

See my head aches from all this thinkin' Feels like a ship god, god knows I'm sinkin' Wonder what you do and where it is you stay These questions like a whirlwind, they carry me away

Now without her he feels like he's alone. He's got no one by his side and all he does is overthink. He thinks of the mistakes that he's made and how he made her feel and it's heavy on him, he feels like he's sinking. He's bringing himself down with all the thoughts and questions that he has. Maybe she's better off without me, where is she now? What would she do if she were here with me? All these thoughts eat him alive and so does the loneliness that he feels. Now he realizes how much he really needed her.

Who will bring me flowers when it's over And who will give me comfort when it's cold Who will I belong to when the day just won't give in And who will tell me how it ends and how it all begins Oh, no Oh no Don't ever say goodbye

He needs someone to be with him through thick and thin. He needs someone to share his life with, to help him make decisions, to love him when he isn't able to love himself. He needs someone to make sense of everything when he can't make sense of it. Someone who will see things clearer for him and help him.

I'm only human I said I'm only human I'm only human I said I'm only human I'm only human I said I'm only human I'm human I'm human I'm human Yeah oh, Yeah, oh

He realizes that he's made a lot of mistakes, but he is only a human. And humans make mistakes, they are flawed. But humans also need each other because they can't do it all alone. He needs her desperately. He needs someone beside him to go through life with him because he feels that alone, he wont make it.

To me it's about someone dying...

You disappear with all your good intentions

Meaning that they died. I assume it was a good, loveable person. Hence the lyrics "all your good intentions".

And all I am is all I could not mention

He's trying to get over it, but this person made them who they are.

Like who will bring me flowers when it's over And who will give me comfort when it's cold

Meaning that this person was always there for him.

She took a plane to somewhere out in space

Meaning that this person went to heaven, ("out in space")

To start a life and maybe change the world

Starting a new life in heaven.

See I never meant for you to have to crawl No I never meant to let you go at all Don't ever say goodbye

"No I never meant to let you go at all" means that he wasn't expecting this death and that he wanted this person to stay with him.

See my head aches from all this thinkin'

Possible pondering about this person's death.

Feels like a ship God, God knows I'm sinkin'

He feel so lost without this person and it feels like he doesn't have the strength to carry on.

Wonder what you do and where it is you stay

Wondering if this person went to heaven or hell.

These questions like a whirlwind, they carry me away

Who will bring me flowers when it's over And who will give me comfort when its cold

Again, this person was always there for him. "Who will bring me flower when it's over?" signifies that when one of his girlfriends left him, or they broke up this person was always there to bring him flowers and give him comfort.

Who will I belong to when the day just won't give in And who will tell me how it ends and how it all begins

Sounds to me maybe like a parent figure that told him stories about their life and the mistakes they made ("and who will tell me how it ends and how it all begins") and when the day is bad he could go to this person and feel loved ("who will i belong to when the day just won't give in")

    Don't ever say goodbye

He probably means that he doesn't want this person to die, or leave. He doesn't want them to go and pass over.

I'm only human I'm only human I'm only human

Sounds like he's accepting that he is only human and this person is only human and everyone has to die sometime. It's sort of a setting them off in the right direction, persay.

    Hope this helped!

And I agree this could be about a relationship but the "Who will bring me flowers when it's over" part doesn't make me think it's about a relationship. And this song is to deep and meaning to be about a relationship in my eyes :D

I think this is about a break-up, where the girl is gone and moved on, and the guy is just a ghost to her. He's wondering what will happen to him after it's over.

I know that the boy-girl relationship sounds more logical, but I can't help feeling like it's something deeper than that.

Maybe it's just because this is the situation I'm going through, but I feel like it's about growing up and moving out and changing your life, about leaving home, your family, your friends and perhaps even a boy/girlfriend behind and starting a sort of new life.

the song, for me, kinda sums up my feelings towards my amazing mother. my mom and i have not always been tight but she's always been there for me. she literally does everything for me and i am in so many ways dependent on her i'm 16 now and i've realized she won't always be here to do everything for me and i should learn everything i can from her while she's alive and able.

    :)

    Song Meaning

Like skullz, I thought this was about someone dying, but I interpreted it as the singer, not the girl.

You disappear with all your good intentions

She may have been at the funeral and trying to do the best she could (her good intentions), but now she's inaccessible to the singer since she's still living.

And all I am is all I could not mention

All that's left of him is the secrets he took to the grave, the things he left unsaid, what he never told her.

Like who will bring me flowers when it's over

Who will put flowers on his gravestone. Note that the song's title is "Flowers for a Ghost". This implies, as it is "who will bring ME flowers", that it is the singer who is the titular ghost.

And who will give me comfort when it's cold

Who will come and visit him, when his body's cold in the ground.

She took a plane to somewhere out in space To start a life and maybe change the world

She's beginning to move on with her life.

See I never meant for you to have to crawl No I never meant to let you go at all

He never wanted to make her suffer after his death and hurt because of the loss; he never meant to die.

    Don't ever say goodbye

He doesn't want the girl to forget him.

See my head aches from all this thinkin' Feels like a ship God, God knows I'm sinkin' Wonder what you do and where it is you stay These questions like a whirlwind, they carry me away

He wonders what the girl's life is like now.

Who will bring me flowers when it's over And who will give me comfort when it’s cold

Again, now that the girl has moved on with her life, who will visit his grave, and who will remember him?

Who will I belong to when the day just won't give in And who will tell me how it ends and how it all begins

Who will tell him what the world's like after died, and who will tell him what's to come?

    Don't ever say goodbye

He doesn't want the girl to let him go.

I'm only human I'm only human I'm only human

He's acknowledging his mortality; he died; he's only human. That's what humans do. But the 'only' implies that he wishes he weren't and he could stay.

    My Interpretation

Like it has been said before- this song isn't about death at all.

This song is about building an emotional wall and not letting people in, then realising what a big mistake that was. It is also about loosing the right person while looking for the wrong people.

    Not someone's death.

The reference to "who will bring me flowers when it's over?" is basically saying "whose gunna miss me when I'm gone?!"

I just wanted to say that I really loved reading all of your thoughts on the song.

I've actually never been to this site and sort of got addicted to reading everyone's take.

So if anyone's out there, thank you.

Techno Ted
Audioslave
Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
