For me, this song is about being somebody's Light in all of their darkness. "It's a new day, it's a bright day even when you stand in the dark" - even while things around the person are bad, the world is bright and sunny "I'm the only light that you see (You need someone), I know all you needed was me" - he is the only one there for this person

I think this song is actually about a girl who was seeing someone other than the singer and they broke up. Now she is struggling because while she knows she likes the singer, her ex (the sunshine) is in her mind. She's been broken into 50 pieces by him and she can't forget him (Think it's right when it feels so wrong) even though they didn't work out so he's telling her to forget about her sunshine when he's gone.

As for the meaning, it's basically when something good is gone just move on I get the feeling the sunshine represents a person, and it's like they broke up so he'll try and forget her.
i think that the sunshine represents the girl that he just broke up with. he feels that he either sees or thinks of her everyday, just like the sun is present everyday. the rest is pretty self explanatory, he is depressed that they broke up but knows that its for the best
Agree with you Sweetness7, I can SOOOO relate to this song, as for numerous AAR amazing songs, but hearing this song is like waking up to a beautiful day with a hangover! lol Times were good and love was shared but everything good or bad eventually comes to an end and we, as people, have to learn to keep on keeping on...
i love this song but i always think about my ex and all the good times i had with her but she broke up with me. But i then relized after months of being broken up she can never keep a steady relationship so i gues it was for the best just like the song i moved on
