I think this song is actually about a girl who was seeing someone other than the singer and they broke up. Now she is struggling because while she knows she likes the singer, her ex (the sunshine) is in her mind. She's been broken into 50 pieces by him and she can't forget him (Think it's right when it feels so wrong) even though they didn't work out so he's telling her to forget about her sunshine when he's gone. The day is gone Yeah, I'm the only light that you see (You need someone) I know all you needed was me This is where it's most clear. The day (her boyfriend) is gone. This is a beautiful song. I'm not as clear on the exact meaning, but it is clearly about having "cold feet" or doubt/loss of enthusiasm/not wanting to do something. I think this song can have two meanings. "cold feet and a tie" could mean he's getting married and he's nervous, but personally I think he's going to a funeral. The cold feet mean nerves and tie could mean his tie and the tie of whoever just died. Turn it off means turn off the feelings and be numb, which is why I think it's a death. When I listen to the song I just think about turning off all the bad feelings and just taking a break, because life gives me cold feet sometimes. But who knows, that's just my $0.02. |

The third stanza there is actually: We can live forever But we'll never be this young again. Anyways I love The Limousines and this is one of my favorites off the album. Its really a song about a guy and a girl who have chemistry and a shot at making it work. but they know even as their having fun that things get complicated really easy so instead of trying to call it something or define their relationship and whats changing they decide to just have some fun and dance and fuck and be drunk and drink more haha. its actually incredibly cute too. |

i mostly agree with what's been said. it was like one time with this guy we really liked eachother but i was just too complicated and after a bit he wouldn't be able to handle it and he's be mean to me and he's leave. and i'd cry, saying essentially what the guy in the song says, asking for an explanation. at the end of the song though i feel like they hooked up and he's like saying he loves her and that if she's pissed and whatnot he'll pack and go and she'll never have to worry about this again, but if she even utters stay he'll be there for as long as she'll have him. i love this song so much. really good piece of work. |
