Unreachable Lyrics
Are we down for the same cause
We don’t know what we stand for
When the moments start to crack
You do lose track where you head’s at
And I am unreachable
What do you think when your head’s full
We don’t rely on what we get
We begin now where we aren’t yet
One time
Hit me where I turn white
I don’t mean to be polite
Uniform
Spinning the world to the beat of my drum
Uniform
One time
Hit me where I turn white
I don’t mean to be polite
Uniform
Spinning the world to the beat of my drum
Uniform
Reach into the darkness for what you can find
Travel great distance in your mind
The world gets stronger when you start trying
Things turn around towards being born
Away from dying
I’ve lost my kin
There’s no one on my side
Were we to disappear
Well I’d know I tried
You know I tried
You know we tried
End
Shoot me
End
Shoot me
Shoot me
Shoot me
We don’t know what we stand for
When the moments start to crack
You do lose track where you head’s at
And I am unreachable
What do you think when your head’s full
We don’t rely on what we get
We begin now where we aren’t yet
One time
Hit me where I turn white
I don’t mean to be polite
Uniform
Spinning the world to the beat of my drum
Uniform
One time
Hit me where I turn white
I don’t mean to be polite
Uniform
Spinning the world to the beat of my drum

Reach into the darkness for what you can find
Travel great distance in your mind
The world gets stronger when you start trying
Things turn around towards being born
Away from dying
I’ve lost my kin
There’s no one on my side
Were we to disappear
Well I’d know I tried
You know I tried
You know we tried
End
Shoot me
End
Shoot me

I love this song.... amazing. I had trouble distinguishing between uniform and beautiful also.... This is like the sickest album ever to come out. If I have to wait like years again for a Frusciante record, I'll go nuts..... The end is the best part of the song for me.... it's like he's begging to be set free, and then there's a super crazy amazing amesome guitar solo. Anyone also wonder why this song "Unreachable" is right before the track "God"
This song is an anthem to free thinkers. We can't change no matter how we are coerced. Stop the torture of impeding free thought and just shoot us all already.
Does anyone have any idea what he is saying when he sings "hit me where I turn white"?
possibly referring to below the belt or below a tan line inferring vulnerability? "hit me where it hurts" type mentality. only a thought

Dmen, I think it is one of the driving points of a 'sub-interpretation' of the album. I see it in 2 MAJOR stories. the more obvious 1) Looking back on love. The more discreet meaning, number 2, is that he took heroine again for some reason but only once or something and this is his guilt of taking it or how many bad memories it induced (see: One More of Me where it reverts back to Smiles/Niandra Lades esque music structure and lyrics)
As far as the line itself, "Hit me where I turn white" Is probably where he used to shoot up all the time/the one time he may have gone back to it for whatever reason.
jbone, that's a completely unfounded interpretation and you're reading too far into your own thoughts rather than what's actually there. just because of the word "white" you assume john did heroin again in real life. even if that was the case, there is not enough within the rest of the song to suggest that argument.

It seems to me that this song has a spiritual meaning as does the entire Empyrean album.. this song shows a struggle between the motivations of a greater self and the limitations of the physical mind... "are we down for the same cause" shows his questioning of what hes been striving for vs. what he should be striving for.. there is more out in the world than constitutes the physical plane and thankfully The Empyrean greatly surpasses this physical existance.
I love how even the tracklist has meaning it. Enough of Me (CENTRAL) One More of Me. well those songs sound almost exactly the same, and central, meaning center, is right in the middle of those two tracks. I think he put Unreachable before God because in Unreachable he is talking about being so far gone in your thoughts and maybe the thought of you being the only thing in the universe. God is one track higher, because well a God is always gonnabe something that is a higher power.
I think it says 'the world gets YOUNGER as we start trying' Great song, listening to it now! It's beautiful :)

This song is brilliant, i dont really know what its about but musically and lyrically this song is just beautiful... the solo is crazy
This song is fucking awesome. I absolutely love it. They lyrics and vocals(mostly the vocals in the beginning) remind me of Lennon.
