What a Pity Lyrics

What a pity that it is
The way to come back home
I tried to make a point
To sell the last of what I own
Well I can feel your breeze
Begin to choke my living soul
But I promise that its worth it

What a pity that it is
To write you in a song
I tried to make the words become the kingdom to your soul
No matter how I try its just a lyric nothing more
And it cant be worth it

What a pity that it is
To know that your alone
I tried to clean your place up, make it feel like you were home
No matter how I try, it's still a house on sand, you know
And I'm not really worth it
No I'm never really worth it
And its not really worth it

What a pity that it is, To know that your alone I tried to clean your place up, make it feel like you were home No matter how i try, its still a house on a sandy road And I'm not really worth it, No, Im never really worth it And its not really worth it

maybe its about how he lost his wife, and even after she's gone, he tries to act like everything is okay, but he can't even take comfort in his home, simply because she's not there. and he tries to write about how he feels about her in a song, but there's no way of summing it up (whether its love, hate, disgust, longing, etc). so he thinks its not even worth the effort, just like he wasn't worth the effort to her?

It's not

"No matter how I tried, still the house won't send you now"

It's:

"No matter how I try, it's still a house on sand, you know"

In the last verse, I hear

"No matter how I tried, still the house won't send you now And I'm not really worth it"

Which to me makes sense in the context of the verse because he's trying to make it feel like she's there, but the house can't produce her
