The Bitter End, which is the album this song is on, is entirely about him dealing with the discovery of his wife cheating on him with his own brother. Every song on here is about that, literally every song. I am assuming that the album took months to record, and each song is a recording of his progress of either getting over her, or just dealing with everything.

In this song, he's had time to let everything sink in and despite his pain, he loves her, he misses his wife. He will forget the past if she just says she needs him too. He still wants her because he is still in love with her. The problem is that she doesn't want him, so he's willing to change himself and forget everything just to be with her. You have to keep in mind, they had kids too, and his wife had sex with his own brother. You can not imagine the heartbreak.

I think this song is about a one night stand. The guy tries to run away saying that he was "packing his bags like a bat out of hell" and he felt bad so he wanted to repent at the "downtown mass, where the spirit fled" meaning his conscious or soul led him there.

This song could be about the girl that he usually writes about, Anna, but it is not for certain. I think that the girl wants to be back with him again but he says that it will have to wait, possibly because he is not in the right position spiritually speaking to have be with her. He loves her but hers may be more of a lust for him than actual love. He asks her if she has seen love as bright as his is for her.

This is just an interpretation and its my first one also.. so just tell me what you think.

No this song is about anna. he is looking back on his decision to leave and he isn't at the point yet where his anger has overwhelmed him. right now he just wants her back and he is willing to win her back however possible. He can even forget what she did. As for him talking about her like he can see her i think he is imagining her. i could be wrong.

Beautiful song. My favorite on the album. He still loves her no matter how bad she hurt him. He just wants to forget what happened and have her love again.

By the way, he actually recorded the entire album over the course of three days while staying in an old log cabin.
