As He Climbed The Dark Mountain Lyrics
Geoff said this song was based off of a nightmare he had when he was a kid, where his father was the one climbing the dark mountain. I think this song tries to capture the helpless feeling he had when this dream occurred, it also directly speculates about the meaning of the dream with lines like: "Was it a metaphor for all the subtle ways we would grow apart? Was it mortality?"
this song is so FUCKING beautiful, by far one of the best song's Thursday has ever written
This song off the new split with Envy is fantastic. Thanks so much for the lyrics :)
I think its about a guy who kills himself and they're trying to make sense of it.
"With his hands in the air, was he laughing and dancing or only just trying to wave ‘Goodbye’!"
It always takes me a long time to figure out Thursday's songs and I just heard this one... so maybe this is completely wrong.

"I read The Road by Cormac McCarthy. It reminded me of a dream I had when I was five of my father climbing up this black mountain into nowhere. I don’t know what it was exactly; maybe the turning point in my life when I realized that people die and won’t always be there for you to love." -Geoff

If the lyrics are the same as on the Envy split then one of parts should be:
"Climbing him blind right up the edge of his life, Into the hands of a loving God, or a raging void where we get torn apart"
AND the ending should be:
"Do we go on alone?" instead of "Don't leave go on alone".
I KNEW I heard "raging" in there, it's so obvious! So when I saw these lyrics it didn't make sense as "oh reaching forward to get torn apart". Thanks for the clarification :)
