Theysay [Album Version] Lyrics

They say history will find us on the last train
And we'll make all the same mistakes that they made
And we will never rule tomorrow our way out
Love, it's too late now

They say nothing comes from going against their grain
And oh we are the diggers of our own graves
And we will crash and burn before our train leaves this town
Love, forgive me now
(Forgive me now)
Forgive me now
(Forgive me now)

They can burn in hell, hell
They can burn in hell, hell

They say we will live life dragging on their coattails
Holding onto dreams of false fairytales
And sleeping under bridges where our train breaks down
(Forgive me now)

They came on horses and they shot me down
Stole my woman and burned my town
Children crying 'cause they want what's fair
Everybody gets their share
I was thinking 'bout moving west
Or getting lost in the wilderness
Children crying 'cause they want what's fair
Everybody gets their share

(Forgive me now
Forgive me now
Forgive me now
Forgive me now)

They came on horses and they shot me down
Stole my woman and burned my town
Children crying 'cause they want what's fair
Everybody gets their share
I was thinking 'bout moving west
Or getting lost in the wilderness
Children crying 'cause they want what's fair
Everybody gets their share

Forgive me now
Forgive me now
Forgive me now

Wow. This is more than incredible. His first version of this song was no doubt about him and his lover, in what seemed to be a hopeless relationship. Everyone said it wouldn't last, and he said "they can burn in hell," promised they'd prove them all wrong. The song ends with the repeating, "They can burn in hell"

And now this new version has to added verse. Telling a story of people coming into the scene and taking her and all they had away, leaving him with nothing. It seemed like he did something to lose her.. But it wasn't fair, he didn't deserve to lose her completely like he did. And this version ends with the repeating, "forgive me now."

I like this version better, though.. Its sad.. Seeing the comparison between the two.

These are my thoughts at least. I'd love to hear anyone elses.
