You Can't See The Forest For The Wolves Lyrics
I've lost my innocence
If you see it around please tell it to call
(I can't stomach, my own stomach)
It can't tell me, truths I need
When what I feel and what I see isn't even real
(what should I believe?)
Give me something to believe in
Something that is real
A moment of reflection
What should I believe?
Televisions tells me one thing
Brain tells me something else
(Bullshit never had any intelligence)
War's a terror that we can do without
Small towns thinkers will always wear you down
(Just don't look for the hidden meanings)
Give me something to believe in
Something that is real
A moment of reflection
What should I believe?
Start with a voice with some heart
(Something to believe)
End with a song in the light
(Something to believe)
Start with a voice with some heart
(Something to believe)
End with a song in the light
Give me something to believe in
Give me something that is real
Give me something to believe in
give me something that is real
If you see it around please tell it to call
(I can't stomach, my own stomach)
It can't tell me, truths I need
When what I feel and what I see isn't even real
(what should I believe?)

To me, this song is basically saying don't belive everything you see and hear in the media....
The guitars in the song are immense....!
The title of the song is obviously a play on the phrase 'You can't see the forest for the trees'. I agree with the above, it's probably about not believing everything you see or hear. Wolves would be a good metaphor for the media so it makes sense.
I agree with gemhenz and [Juneau] that this song is saying don't believe everything you hear in the media... BUT, you seem to be missing the bigger picture here. The song is about someone's (possibly the main singer's) realization that there is no God. the first couple lines are a big tell:
"I've lost my innocence" essentially means that this realization that he is all alone has taken away his innocence.
"If you see it around please tell it to call. It can't tell me, truths I need..." His innocence, aka the time when he believed in God, doesn't tell him the truth's he needs to live his life. (he's been living a lie)
And then the obvious: "Give me something to believe in Something that is real A moment of reflection What should I believe?"
That speaks for itself.
This is is absolutely kickass! The breakdown is just awesome . .I love the transition in the beginning - from an acoustic pace to the bass & drumming kicking in. & when the chorus comes in the vocals just sync perfectly with the chords. Awesome..! Fav lines would be "Bullshit never had any intelligence" I agree with you, the media always twists and exploits the truth to manufacture their own version of truth for ratings, which equals $$$$. It's really sad considering they're willing to brainwash and feed the people of the public, their own family and friends, with this bullshit all for money. It's as if they're selling themselves out.
(should've included this in the previous post, forget i had more to say lol)Have you also noticed how the news, a current affairs programs, and all those other news bringing shows mostly portray negative aspects of whats happening in the world such as war, death, crime, disasters & sadness? there's a message in the song that's suggesting that it's come to the point of turning people into atheists or just doubting the existence of God, if all they see is that shyt happening, and no coverage is being made on the good things that are happening around the world, things that promote the existence of God or give the public HOPE or a sense of faith in their lives. It's no little wonder people doubt the existence of God, esp. those in my generation (Generation y), we've grown up with TV, media and all these technological devices since birth, so most likely we're affected time to time with the lack of faith syndrome if not more so than others.
dreamersdisease, i dont mean to be rude but lack of faith syndrome??? thats like me calling your faith a disorder. atheism is a belief, dont talk about it so negatively.
afi23, I'm sorry if my comment offended you but I do stand by my belief that the media should shoulder the blame amongst other systems and things that occur in this world as to why people choose to turn away from religion and doubt the existence of God and rely upon themselves to determine what is deemed as right and wrong in this world, instead of looking for a divine force or reason to justify their actions or the way they should live their lives. I think I should clarify on what I meant when I said "Lack of faith syndrome". It wasn't directed towards the "athiesm" doctrine or any theological concept as much as the term "Faith" is linked with christianity oe theism. As an agnostic theist myself, I interpret it as a lack of belief in the emotion HOPE or the feeling of believing in the possibility of a postive outlook on life.
I love this song. The lyrics in the verses are amazing. That guitar riff is immense.
Meaning-wise, I think its like when you view the world as it really is for the first time, when you lose your naivety and become sceptical. And because everything you see goes against your belief system, you start doubting your beliefs and questioning everything you've been told.
