he cares about his girlfriend but he sometimes screws up and finds himself not quite sure what he does. She gets frustrated/tired of his shit and eventually threatens (or actually) leaves. He just wants her to see he really loves her and he wants to work through the issues.

I liked this song the first time I heard it...

in 2002 by Switchfoot, "Meant to Live". The verses are practically the same, but still a decent song I suppose.

He sees that there's something wrong with her. He knows that it must have been something that he did wrong (again). He wants to apologize for it, but he doesn't even know what he's apologizing for. Apparently she said something that really hurt him, and he wants to know what he could have possibly done to make her say something so mean. But she won't open up to him about it. He's in love with her and he wants her to see that but he just keeps doing things wrong (or at least thats what she makes him feel like). And he hopes that she'll see that he loves her and that she'll come back to him. All he really wants to do is to talk to her and for her to actually tell him what he's done wrong. She just keeps threatening to leave and he doesn't know how to fix things. Towards the end he says that if she wants nothing to do with him, then he will back off. But if she finally realizes that they're meant to be, then he's going to be there waiting for her. He's not giving up until she does.

i agree with msbitchassness, the best part of the song is "And I'll be here in the morning, if you say stay." i absolutely loved the concept of the video. i thought it was pretty cool the way the story line fit with the song. all around, its a good song.

i mostly agree with what's been said. it was like one time with this guy we really liked eachother but i was just too complicated and after a bit he wouldn't be able to handle it and he's be mean to me and he's leave. and i'd cry, saying essentially what the guy in the song says, asking for an explanation. at the end of the song though i feel like they hooked up and he's like saying he loves her and that if she's pissed and whatnot he'll pack and go and she'll never have to worry about this again, but if she even utters stay he'll be there for as long as she'll have him.

I'm pretty sure he shows her a police badage or something. i love this song as well as the album!! they are so good!
