Blind-folded and gagged stood waiting
With the whole world my firing squad
At the edge of the world I'm faced out
Staring the sun right in the eye

Vultures circle above, hyenas mocking the kill
Excrement drooling down their chins
Atop the cliffs I look down into the starving hell-mouth
The rabid foam crashes hard on it's teeth

Their mouths salivate
Fantasizing my gruesome ending
This world looks down upon
A man who can stand on his own two feet

As their feeding their guns "ready aim"
They say I'll live if i die for their cause
Living under the rule of fellow cro-magnon fool
They fear to look out to stay still

Their mouths salivate
Fantasizing my gruesome ending
This world looks down upon
A man who can stand on his own two feet

Without eating from their claws

Life feels like hell should
This hell's so cold
Pull another knife out
Stick it with the rest of them
When my back is full
Turn me around to face it

Such melancholy burning the stars from skies
As we melt drowning inside their bloodied eyes
Hope is ravaged running from lacerations
Sob so heavily we choke then we die

Die, die, die, die

Die, die, die, die

Life feels like hell should
This hell's so cold
Pull another knife out
Stick it with the rest of them
When my back is full
Turn me around to face it

Sob so heavily we choke then we die

For those that don't know what the chorus means, it's about how he reacts to those who've betrayed him.

"Pull another knife out and stick it with the rest of them" (betray him just as the many before"

"When my back is full, turn me around to face it" (when you're done stabbing him in the back and want to say something to his face, you will turn his back around just to find his other backside; basically meaning no matter whether it be you say shit to his face or behind his back, he will completely disregard it)

    My Opinion

i pretty much agree with bobbyjoedik. and malice has certainly got a point that diserves some thought. really though, its a pretty streightforward song, if you can decypher metephors well. one thing trivium is great at. using metephors in a non cheesy way.

really though, i just wanted to say, that this song makes me think of lelouch from code geass, lol. the very first time i heard the song, i heard the line "with the whole world, my firing squad". i thought of lelouch leading the black knights, as his "firing squad" (though after reading the lyrics in full, i know what it really ment now). and so many other aspects makes me think of him. "living under the rule, of fellow cro-magnon fool. they fear who will lead, so kill to stay still. to me implying what lelouch thinks of brittania. brittanai thinking they have the right to discriminate and kill, but the only ones who should kill are those who are prepaid to be killed. though all brittanain's think they are devine or something..

anyways..just felt like saying that ^^'. one of my favorite songs from this album...hell..one of my favorites from trivium period.

I was looking at the lyrics, and realized it was kinda of hard to read. Plus, there are some wrong words in there. Here are the right lyrics:

Blind-folded and gagged, stood waiting With the whole world: my firing squad At the edge of the world I'm faced out Staring the sun right in the eye

Vultures circle above, hyenas mocking the kill Excrement drooling down their chins Atop the cliffs I look down, into the starving Hell-mouth The rabid foam crashes hard on it's teeth

Their mouth's salivate Fantasizing my gruesome ending This world looks down upon A man who can stand on his own two feet

As they're feeding their guns: "ready, aim" They say I'll live, if I die for their cause Living under the rule of fellow Cro-Magnon fool They fear who leads and will kill to stay still

Their mouth's salivate Fantasizing my gruesome ending This world looks down upon A man who can stand on his own two feet (Without eating from their claws)

    DIE!

Life feels like Hell should But this Hells so cold Pull another knife out Stick it with rest of them When my back is full Turn me around to face it

Life feels like Hell should But this Hells so cold Pull another knife out Stick it with rest of them When my back is full Turn me around to face it

Awesome song. I love the really heavy bits. This really is a big step up from The Crusade.

This is probably one of the best songs on the CD. Next to Torn.

The entire CD is an amazing piece of work.

I think it is what Malice says, but so much more than that.

Its about a guy who is about to be murdered and he's explaining the situation and his state of mind a guy who is blindfolded and taken to a cliff to be shot from a firing squad and they take his blindfold off before he dies

i don't really know what this song is about but i think perdition means damnation or being sent to hell

and i thought shogun is about mythical tales and these lyrics sort of remind me of prometheus being chained to a rock and having his liver eaten everyday

    • just my thoughts though i'm not matt heafy obviously

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.
