as much as we like doing the 'right thing', it's the struggle of the temptation. Just like a friend it's there.
I agree. Humans give in to temptation because their reward is greater than the much later consequences of their chosen action. The immediate payoff is simply bigger/more important to them. it's often free will and original sin rolled into one big party, and nobody gets pooped on until long after the fun has subsided. What's the old saying...something like better to beg forgiveness than to ask for permission and receive a "NO" :)

it's about depression or a mental illness
To me, this song is about the daily battle with depression/mental illness. You have your good days and your bad days, it’s always there with you (waiting in the winds). Sometimes it’s easy to slip back into depression (I’m a sucker for his charm), but having strength to fight and carry on (I won’t let him win).
