It kills me not to know this but I've all but just forgotten,
What the color of her eyes were and her scars or how she got them.
As the telling signs of age rain down, a single tear is dropping,
Through the valleys of an aging face that this world has forgotten.

There is no reconciliation that will put me in my place,
And there is no time like the present to drink these draining seconds.
But seldom do these words ring true when I'm constantly failing you?
Like walls that we just can't break through until we disappear.

So tell me now,
If this ain't love then how do we get out?
'Cause I don't know.

That's when she said: "I don't hate you boy,
I just want to save you while there's still something left to save."
That's when I told her: "I love you girl,
But I'm not the answer for the questions that you still have."

And the day pressed on like crushing weights for no man does it ever wait,
Like memories of dying days that deafen us like hurricanes.
Bathed in flames we held the brand uncurled the fingers in your hand.
Pressed into the flesh like sand, now do you understand?

So tell me now,
If this ain't love then how do we get out?
'Cause I don't know.

That's when she said: "I don't hate you boy,
I just want to save you while there's still something left to save."
That's when I told her: "I love you girl,
But I'm not the answer for the questions that you still have."

One thousand miles away, there's nothing left to say,
But so much left that I don't know.
We never had a choice, this world is too much noise.
It takes me under, it takes me under once again.

I don't hate you, I don't hate you, no.
So tell me now,
If this ain't love then how do we get out?
'Cause I don't know.

That's when she said: "I don't hate you boy,
I just want to save you while there's still something left to save."
That's when I told her: "I love you girl,
But I'm not the answer for the questions that you still have."

I don't hate you, I don't hate you.
I don't hate you, I don't hate you, no.

    Song Meaning

It sounds like a younger man falls in love with an older woman. He loves her, and tells her so. She tells him she just wants to save him from his life of self-destruction. They are in two different places, emotionally, then, and he's looking back on it now, from a little ways in the future, and he still loves her.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.
