Light A Way Lyrics
Down by a lake of Mississippi,
A boy was born poor and abandoned
And as he walk you could hear him yearning
For a home and he prays
And by the fields he sang for rising
All of his faith and memorizing
All of the songs his mother learned from the lord himself
Heaven light a way for a fallen
Let me ease the pain from my mother
But he feels the deception in his head
Another day was born and rising
And on a stool the boy was trying
To earn a coin for his mother, and hoping
That freedom will lead her way
Mr. Cadillac Blood: Dear little friend, I've heard your story
Please take my hand and I'll promise
We'll find a way and we'll be fighting
For your mother, and her wings
Heaven light a way for another
Let me ease the pain for a fallen
We are on our way so much stronger
Heaven light the way for another
And he feels no deception in his head
A boy was born poor and abandoned
And as he walk you could hear him yearning
For a home and he prays
All of his faith and memorizing
All of the songs his mother learned from the lord himself
Let me ease the pain from my mother
But he feels the deception in his head
And on a stool the boy was trying
To earn a coin for his mother, and hoping
That freedom will lead her way
Please take my hand and I'll promise
We'll find a way and we'll be fighting
For your mother, and her wings
Let me ease the pain for a fallen
We are on our way so much stronger
Heaven light the way for another
And he feels no deception in his head

Pretty straightforward song. A kid growing up in a broken home looking for a way to help himself and his mother out of their sorry state.

This is 4 years late, but maybe it has to do with the album’s title: Guitar Gangsters and Cadillac Blood.

The song speaks about a struggling boy to keep himself and his mother afloat. Perhaps “Mr. Cadillac Blood” can work as a metaphor to either: a wealthy business man that took pity on the boy, or an old-fashioned 1930’s-1940’s gang leader, I believe the latter is slightly more fitting due to the album’s overall feel.

The song also mentions religion (heaven) and the ways to what I can interpret as salvation for the boy’s mother, and redemption for the boy/man himself.
These are my two cents, I hope that whoever reads this finds it helpful or interesting in the least.
This is a song about a little boy who was taken away from his mother and home (he never knew his father). One day, a horse rider came and took his mother away by force, the story goes that she was taken away for slavery. The boy was left behind and began to walk the road along the corn fields, praying for help from the lord above. One day, he arrives at "The 10 House City" where he tries to earn some money polishing shoes, always hoping to find his mother and to save enough money to buy her freedom from slavery.
