Maybe about the political issues that breed this kind of violence, tyrants who feed people with hatred for other religious systems or ways of life, demons who represent pure evil, and heaven which is depicted as the last prize for the violence committed against enemies.

I think this song, like many of the songs written by james, can be interpreted in different ways...i think thats what he wants people to do. So keeping that in mind i think that it depends how you want to look at it. none of you guys were probably wrong, it could be about suicide bombers or about a car crash, or maybe it coudl be about him kickign his addiction [see the end in me](i know cliche -.- but w/e) or it could be about his fear of fading away and metallica loosing its place as the famous band that it is [fear thy name extermination]. or maybe it could be about a fear of death...he said it himself the songs in the album deal with death.... peoples fear of death and so on. it just depends how you look at it.
