Woolen Gloves Lyrics
Come downstairs
I’ll put flowers in your hair
Won’t you forgive me now?
Won’t you forgive me now?
Won’t you forgive me now baby, oh won’t you forgive me now?
Some days are like woolen gloves
They feel warm, but you can’t touch things properly
Can’t hold onto glass
Can’t hold on to rocks
Can’t hold onto love
While wearing woolen gloves
Won’t you forgive me now?
Won’t you forgive me now?
Won’t you forgive me now baby, oh won’t you forgive me now?
If I lived here I would swim everyday
My skin would turn darker
And I’d have babies
And they’d drink all my milk
But I live in New York
With my woolen gloves
Falling in and out
Of my woolen loves
Won’t you forgive me now?
So won’t you forgive me now?
Won’t you forgive me now baby, oh won’t you forgive me now?
Won’t you forgive me now?
I’ll put flowers in your hair
Won’t you forgive me now?
Won’t you forgive me now?
Won’t you forgive me now baby, oh won’t you forgive me now?
They feel warm, but you can’t touch things properly
Can’t hold onto glass
Can’t hold on to rocks
Can’t hold onto love
While wearing woolen gloves
Won’t you forgive me now?
Won’t you forgive me now baby, oh won’t you forgive me now?
My skin would turn darker
And I’d have babies
And they’d drink all my milk
But I live in New York
With my woolen gloves
Falling in and out
Of my woolen loves
So won’t you forgive me now?
Won’t you forgive me now baby, oh won’t you forgive me now?
Won’t you forgive me now?

oooooh....How Interesting!!! and i'm the first to comment! tehe!
well, I can't put the meaning into words, but I think she says what she means sooo. I've never heard this song...but I like the lyrics and the story!!!! as usual! ♥♥♥
Yay! Just listening to this for the first time... I reckon its using the lack of dexterity we feel when we're wearing gloves to relate that back to life, and that desire to go somewhere warm where she'll have an 'ideal' life. But instead she stays where its cold, where she makes mistakes, misshandles things and needs forgiveness. Anyway, they're just my thoughts... New Regina! Yay!! Wonderful day!!
i agree with morikahjo. this song has the type of meaning that something inside you understands, but your brain can't comprehend....
To me (I'm probably the only one!), this song tells the story of someone who fell in love far from home in some exotic place. She feels warm literally because its a hot place and also because its nice to be with that person... but its like woolen gloves it feels nice and warm but doesn't feel real "you can't touch things properly". She imagines what it would be like if she were to stay forever ("have babies" etc..) but she knows it can't last and that she has to go back to New York. She wants the person to understand and forgive her (now)... I think "falling in and out of my woolen gloves" is really beautiful, but I'm not sure what it means... I think it's about falling in and out of love but also, feelings of safety and security which come and go. (Like in her song 'dulce et decorum est' when "things that used to comfort me don't comfort me anymore0
Just my little ideas! :)
It's like those days when you're snug inside yourself but you can't seem to connect with others. Some days you just have to ball up in your thoughts and no one can reach out to you that way. It's not necessarily sad, just thoughtful.
