The End Where I Begin

It's a cycle, I happen to have depression cycles just like this and I can really relate.

The beginning is kind of the pessimistic stage, the stage where you just want to give up, at the end of this stage is when you can finally restart again.

Then he reaches his peak, he feels alive and like he can do anything.

But unfortunately he reaches his pessimistic side again, and once again has to start over

It's actually a brilliant arrangement of lyrics, good stuff

I LOVE the script, and i LOVE their lyrics. most have "good" music with "catchy" lyrics, as in, in my own words "if it rhymes and flows in time it goes" but few bands have awesome music with such honest lyrics like these guys have. and this song really its pretty self explanatory about what its about. its just wow, on them grey days this is the first song im in need of along with "fix you" by coldplay.

I suppose my interpretation of the song is that it's of someone being hurt in a relationship, becoming depressed or pessimistic and ultimately reaching a state of mind in which you feel things can't get worse -- rock bottom and then finally finding it within yourself to see that the best thing to do is look forward and develop a more positive mentality. I believe the song ending on a negative note suggests that it's a circular series of events and it is likely to occur more than once.

I think this is about being depressed in life (eg. you want to attain something but you always fail) and you are emotionally numb. You just cannot feel anything "Tried to break my heart, well it's broke... Tried to hang me high, well I'm choked" even though this things shall trigger emotions. It's just like meh... Then there's the middle part of the song where everything feels ok again but it just lasts for awhile and everything just hits rock bottom again.

He's been "defeated" and kicked to the bottom, but he's going to start again; this is where he "begins".

My favorite line of this song comes on the bridge, "What don't kill a heart, only makes it strong." - kinda become my motto in love since then. True, right?

to me this song has a few meanings one.the end where i begin, meaning the end of his life is just the start and then it goes onto say, "now im alive and the ghosts are gone, shed all the pain ive been holding on" which seems to me like he is happy in the afterlife two. hes hit rock bottom and built himself back up again three. he was involved in a messy break up and didnt want to move on, but eventually got over her.

I read an article about The Script. It said that most of the songs from the first album (including this one) were actually about the death of Danny's father and Mark's mother. I think that this song must be a way of saying "I love you, rest in peace" to them. Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's it.
