Cyanide Lyrics

Sleep and dream of this
Death angel's kiss
Brings final bliss
Don't believe it!

Empty are they
Death, won't you let me stay?
Empty they say
Death, won't you call your name?
Oh, call your name!
Suicide, I've already died
It's just the funeral I've been waiting for
Cyanide, living dead inside
Break this empty shell forevermore

Wait, wait patiently
Your death-black wings
Unfolding sleep
Treading on me

Empty they say
Death, won't you let me stay?
Empty they say
Death, hear me call your name
Oh, call your name!
Suicide, I've already died
It's just the funeral I've been waiting for
Cyanide, living dead inside
Break this empty shell forevermore

Say, is that rain or are they tears?
That stained your concrete face for years
Crying, weeping, shedding strife
Year after year, life after life
A narrow freshly broken ground
A concrete angel laid right down
Upon the grave that swallows fast
It's peace at last
Oh, peace at last

Empty they say
Death, won't you let me stay?
Empty they say
Death, hear me call your name
Oh, call your name
Suicide, I've already died
It's just the funeral I've been waiting for
Cyanide, living dead inside
Break this empty shell forevermore

Forevermore!
Forevermore!
It's the funeral I've been waiting for!

To me, it sounds like he wants to die. But it doesn't seem like he wants to kill himself, though doesn't look opposed to self-destruction. I think the reason why he feels this way is because either he's already dead or miserable to the point that he might as well be dead and doesn't bother commiting suicide.

My Interpretation

I'm glad he doesn't want to die. I think he should drive over to the next Chicago street, turn off the lights, and let me jump in. I think a long evening drive to nowhere would do the trick. And I bet I could have him laughing and smiling mighty fast. He woudn't have to say a word. Heck, he couldn't look any worse than he did last year when he had crud around his eyes, his hair hadn't been washed in a few days, and he said he smelled like some foreign country. He was still perfect...

Uh, to all those who say it's about suicide the cd single cover shows an ultrasound picture of a unborn baby. It's clearly about abortion. I read somewhere that the heavy playing at the beginning of the song is morse code for SOS or something. Thats similar to the video for the song "One" with the soldier who couldn't talk or write.

It's written from the point of view of the unborn child.

"Empty they say," Showing indifference. Abortion advocates say the act is not a big deal.

"Death" The abortionist.

"Say, is that rain or are they tears?" The unborn child rhetorically and mockingly asking the mother if she actually gives a damn.

"Year after year, life after life." Shes gone through the procedure several times over the years.

"…suicide I’ve already died. You’re just the funeral I’ve been waiting for."

I think the unborn child is saying that symbolically he has all ready died because the mother has rejected them before the abortion. But the unborn child is calling out to "death" to kill his mother as well. He wants revenge or something. He doesn't understand that the abortionist isn't death incarnate but just a physician doing a job.

This song is actually really disturbing because James is essentially making a point that if a unborn child is aware of what is being done to them that they could theoretically have a right to abort the mother like the mother has the right to abort them. Theoretically not in a legal way but in the purest most basic of human ways. The unborn child is naive and doesn't understand how the world works.

Awesome ong you can watch them perform this at OzzFest on Youtube. This is probably about using cyanide to commit sucide and the punsihment that your soul goes through when your dead.

BlackLegion1994 almost right, this song is about using Cyanide to make a suicide.(Cyanide - any salt of cyanil acid not sure about theese words, can't really translate them from russian) You have about one minute of life left if you breath it, you have a couple minutes more if you eat it. I think this song is about theese moments between life and death.

-Death, won't you let me stay? Maybe I've done the wrong thing?

-Suicide, I've already died -It's just the funeral I've been waiting for -Cyanide, feeling death inside -Break this empty shell forevermore

This tells about the moments when you haven't yet died, but already feel cyanide destroying you within.

Nice song, waiting for the studio version.

Cyanide is a very popular kind of poison among spies. In the cold war it was used by the spies to commit suicide when they were captured to prevent telling important information
