Nanananananana
Nananananana
Nanananananana
Nananananana
I guess I just lost my husband
I don't know where he went
So I'm gonna drink my money
I'm not gonna pay his rent (Nope)
I got a brand new attitude
And I'm gonna wear it tonight
I wanna get in trouble
I wanna start a fight
Nanananananana
I wanna start a fight
Nanananananana
I wanna start a fight
So so what
I'm still a rock star
I got my rock moves
And I don't need you
And guess what
I'm havin' more fun
And now that we're done
I'm gonna show you
Tonight
I'm alright
I'm just fine
And you're a tool, so
So what
I am a rock star
I got my rock moves
And I don't want you tonight
(Uh, check my flow)
The waiter just took my table
And gave it to Jessica Simp (Shit)
I guess I'll go sit with tomboy
At least I'll know how to hit
(What if their songs on the radio
That somebody's gonna die)?
I'm gonna get in trouble
My ex'll start a fight
Nanananananana
He's gonna start a fight
Nanananananana
We're all gonna get in a fight
So so what
I'm still a rock star
I got my rock moves
And I don't need you
And guess what
I'm havin' more fun
And now that we're done
I'm gonna show you
Tonight
I'm alright
I'm just fine
And you're a tool, so
So what
I am a rock star
I got my rock moves
And I don't want you tonight
You weren't there
You never were
You weren't at all
But that's not fair
I gave you life
I gave my all
You weren't there
You let me fall
So so what
I'm still a rock star
I got my rock moves
And I don't need you
And guess what
I'm havin' more fun
And now that we're done (We're done)
I'm gonna show you

Am I the only one who see the whole "I'm alright" as less of a declaration, but more of an attempt to convince herself? Like, the relationship broke up and she's not over him entirely but knows she needs to move on. She's also angry and hurt, she knows she still rocks and can go out and have a great time. even in the music video you see that short bit where she's chopping down the tree and she starts to break up and bit and then is mouths "I'm alright" real fast.
It's after a break up, after the initial freak out, where everything is just starting to get normal again, but you still miss them, yet are angry. Hence the "tool".
She's said publicly she'll always love Carey, so I feel this is at least somewhat accurate.
There's an alrming number of people who have commented on this song who seem to be immune to the art of irony.
The song is simply about a break up, and it's the phase everyone goes through where they behave childlishly and arrogantly to cover how heartbroken they are over it all inside.
i heard this on the radio about 3 times before i realized it was pink... it sounds kinda like a man at the beginning if you're not thinking about it =P but anyways, i think this is Pink just saying yeah, we broke up but i'm not broken up. i'm still me and i'm still mad and i want my life back. i love this song and i'm glad pink is going strong. imo this is her way of dealing with a heart break, rather then sitting around crying. Yay Pink!
Watching the video + the song, it looks like her husband left her and she is trying to prove she doesn't care, but it really hurt her and she's just being crazy around town because of it. The bridge shows that he really did hurt her. I like how in the video, they hug as if to say "Yeah, its effed up but its okay"
dethbylifeitself - "Am I the only one who see the whole "I'm alright" as less of a declaration, but more of an attempt to convince herself?"
I've always assumed that most of people's announcements to the world are either pleas for help or an attempt to assuage their own treachorous mind.
Don't hate, this song is basically what everyone else does when they go through tough shit. Try to reassure themselves that other people's faults havent ruined them at all. Person who said it's boastfull and narcissistic, are you saying that when shit happens to you, you don't say to yourself "I'm strong enough to get through this" or "I know I can still live my life" that's what she's saying. We each have our own things that we want to be. First off, she IS a rockstar (loud music, fans, drugs, the whole bit) therefore she really can say it. If my boy dumped me I'd sit there and go "Well fuck him, I'm still hot and I'm still wanted by tons of other fucking guys" Cuz it's the truth. It doesn't make me narcissistic because I'm not running around screaming it in the streets and telling everyone who listens how many guys want me, but fact remains truth is truth. And all you fucks really need to grow up and possibly learn the actual meanings of words before you use them.
I loved this song since the first time i heard it
love it. but i def. think it's 'drum boy'
This is a song to help her through her divorce. It's what everybody feels/or should feel when they break-up with someone. She is just letting him know that it doesn't matter anymore she is ready for whatever life brings her. I'm sure "rockstar" is just her way of saying "Hey I still rock and I'll show you"
And the nananana part does sound childish but I think it's suppose to be that way. Like "nanana I'm still ok"
Oh yeah it does sound like drumboy
And the people who are saying Pink sucks and what not. Just shut the hell up because people who actually like Pink don't want to be bothered with you.
I don't think it's boastful or narcissistic. Because it's about her way of trying to deal with it. She's trying to pass it off like, "so what? It's no big deal." When it obviously is. She's means it not as "I'M SO AWESOME" but as, "this is how I can keep moving on". Music is her real passion, and she's saying so what I'm still a rockstar because it means that she still has a way to move on with her life, and something else to live for. I think it's a pretty strong statement.
