Moment in the Sun Lyrics

Living, underneath a gray cloud
When nothing ever changes
I couldn't be any less proud
The heart of this town has grown cold
I'm gonna get out before I get too old
There in a better time than now

'Cause all that we ever hear
Is things will be better come next year
They never, ever
Get any better
And I don't care what you've got in store
Because I'm not gonna wait anymore

This is our moment in the sun
This is our time to run
Because there's nothing left for us here
There's nothing left for us anymore
So please don't be concerned
If we never return
Because there's nothing left for us here
There's nothing left for us here anymore

There's no future for us here in this place
And no one ever changes
They're all living in yesterday
And we never impressed them
Maybe we never will
We're either running too fast
Or standing too still
We made up our minds
There's nothing now to make us stay

'Cause all that we ever hear
Is things will be better come next year
They never, ever
Get any better
And I don't care what you've got in store
Because I'm not gonna wait anymore

This is our moment in the sun
This is our time to run
Because there's nothing left for us here (there's nothing left for us here)
There's nothing left for us anymore
Please don't be concerned
If we never return
Because there's nothing left for us here (there's nothing left for us here)
There's nothing left for us here

Well this is the right place
And this is the right time
For our moment in the sun
Moment in the sun. Go!

And I don't care what you've got in store (don't care what you've got in store)
Because I'm not gonna wait anymore (I'm not gonna wait anymore)
No I don't care what you've got in store (don't care what you've got in store)
Because I'm not gonna wait anymore

This is our moment in the sun
This is our time to run
Because there's nothing left for us here
There's nothing left..

And don't pretend to be concerned
If we never return
Because there's nothing left for us here (there's nothing left for us here)
There's nothing left for us here

You were born here (you were born here)
Will you die here (will you die here)
Because there's nothing left for us here (nothing left for us here)
There's nothing left for us here

You were born here (you were born here)
But will you die here (die here)
Because there's nothing left for us here (nothing left for us here)
There's nothing left for us here

And I don't care what you've got in store
Because I'm not gonna wait around here anymore

Fantastic song. Does anyone else love the way Chris sings "we made up our minds" in the verse? hahaha.

Great chord riff at the start, great song overall, anyone else think it's better than white noise?

yeh I think it is better than white noise, a few of the other tracks on the album are (kid, sum of us, loaded gun) To me since the living end are from australia, this song is about having enough of the hectic and commercialsed life presented in the two major cities in aust--- melbourne and sydney. Its gone downwards, and its all the same no matter how hard it tries to market itself ('i don't care what you've got in store') and for the singer the best thing is to give it all up, pack up and head north to somewhere warmer, say like queensland to have their moment in the sun. The way the song being sung, I'm guessing its a couple that are moving up, but it could be friends, brothers, or 2 forms of consciouness from the same person. Awesome song, and by the way I fucking hate melbourne

To me this song is about the band getting old and perhaps growing out of the current music scene, which is pretty poor atm. The Living End have been around since what like mid 90s or whatever and I'd say this is probably going to be their last album. Hence, "There's nothing left for us anymore Please don't be concerned If we never return" and plenty of others in there. "We were born here and we'll die here" this could be about the bands career form the days of Prisinor of Society, All Torn Down, Second Solution ect... Through Roll On, Modern Artillery, State of Emergency up until White Noise. They are going to leave the music scene after all these years of doing what they love.

So yeah, they're saying it's coming to the end of The Living End Possibly. Thats what I got out of it.

maybe ur rite but I hope ur wrong I hope living end make another album and release more good music I saw them live in may fuckin awesome hope I get 2 c em again

I thought the exact same thing as you did Mitch, it confirmed my intuition when I saw them at the Raise The Alarm tour at Sydney on 8th May 2009 when their banners that were behind them kept changing from their band logo that they had in the 90's all the way through to the White Noise logo. It scared me big time. But seeing as though they have announced they are bringing out a new album, I'd say that this song does not reflect that they are breaking up, but that they are indeed changing for the better.

Personally I...

that's a good interpretation of it, mitch-oscope. chris quit the band for about a year before this album was made, but came back (quality decision) maybe he needed it because this album is bloody brilliant. they could be basically bowing out with this song, sick of the music industry, quitting on a high, on their moment in the sun.
