All Torn Down Lyrics
A million houses goin' up and down in front of me
No time to let the concrete set before it's broken up again
Don't care if it's historic - don't really care at all
A protest rally never satisfied with development
Both striving for a perfect world
Each having their own opinion
The streets are freeways and the parks are just a memory
No time to let the concrete set before it's broken up again

"important people" don't see that the smaller housing projects are actually people's homes.

The living end are from melbourne, Australia. My home town. To me, this song is adressing the current situation in Melbourne. The city's population is incrasing at a rapid rate. Also, alot of changes are happening. Such as freeway extensions, railway extensions, etc. The state government are tearing down historical buildings, clearing parkland and generally changing the whole environment in order to make commuting quicker. The great Urban sprawl.

I agree with the other guys. This song is the story of industrial gain through historical disaster, which is the continual building and re-building of what is now nothing compared to its former glory.

living end is really cool i know the drummer

the living end is awesome, the meaning to this song is sorta obvious though, there really is no hidden meaning. And i think it's awesome that all three of them were nominated, Chris, best guitarist (obviously), Andy best drummer, and Scot best bassist (not your typical fender bassist). Wish they would write more of their older type stuff, like from Roll On.

Holly Shit man! I saw these guys last week at the push over in Luna Park and they went off!!! almost got killed in the mosh pit though!!! I never really was a big fan and my mate KAra says "OH, living end, wanna check it out?" and i was like "yh, might be fun" coz u no, punks my thing!!! Anyways, right before they played this song everyone goes quiet and Chris starts pickin away on his guitar and he was talkin about some palace building thats there - (If anyone has been there they would now what its called... buggered if I know!) - and he says that they're gonna pull it down, make particians to keep it up and everything blah blah, and then he jumps into this really melancholy guitar solo that was really captivating, then, the bass and Drums kicked in, then It was like ''BOOM!'' - '' ALL TORN DOWN'' and the friggin crowd went crazy!!! Awesome concert! NICE JOB BOI's! From ur newest biggest fan!!!...... I also lost a black converse shoe, i found please contact me.... Taa! xx

.... Oh yh, it was a Chuck Tailor..... the shoe, not song dumbass's!!! :)-'''

As ur_worst_nightmare said, get fucked if you hate this song :) The meaning is pretty obvious though. Expanding cities..tearing down historic buildings, beautiful landscapes. etc. Just going too far with the construction, really. This song always makes me a little sad.

classic song about our governments desire to kill our history (yes our, i'm a melburnian) writen 8 years ago, still applies today, probably still will in another 8 years
