The line is drawn up in the sand
Is this the way to nowhere land?
You never seen the sky like this
You never wanna die like this

Comets falling for the earth
Is this the end or a rebirth?
You never seen the sky like this
You never wanna die like this

Mother, are we flying through the universe?
Are we dying through the universe?

Fire burning on the sun
It's killing almost everyone
You never seen the sky like this
You never wanna die like this

Dancing in the acid rain
That's falling on the streets of shame
You never seen the sky like this
You never wanna die like this

Mother, are we flying through the universe?
Are we dying through the universe?
We are crying to you
Mother, are we flying through the universe?
Are we dying through the universe?

Mother, are we flying through the universe?
Are we dying through the universe?
We are crying to you
Mother, are we flying through the universe?
Are we dying in the universe?

Comets falling for the earth
Is this the end or a rebirth?
You never seen the sky like this
You never wanna die like this

This is the gem of the album. I love it.

End of the world (or a rebirth), sun exploding or something. Mother could refer to mother nature.

I'm never good at finding deep meanings.

It's about how everyone is so shocked to see the world ending with comets and flying into the sun, when they thought that the world would end by God coming and taking the believers to heaven, they "never wanna die like this".

I guess there's no deep meaning here... That's just it.

    My Interpretation

Well "the line is drawn up in the sand..." could be talking about this creature who comes from the sea and blasphemes God. This creature is a sign of the Rapture, "you've never seen the sky like this...you never wanna die like this..." could also be referring to the rapture and how the sky will turn red and fire will reign down from the heavens and other more frightening feats of mother nature coupled by those who are left behind (which even some Christians will be left behind) will face demons running ramped killing anything they come into contact with. "We are crying to you mother..." could signify the prayers to God. I could go a little more into the Biblical interpretation but I also wanna hit on another suspicion I have.

It could be signifying alot of the end of the world theories, "Comets falling for the Earth..." basically what happend to the dinosaurs only to humans. "Fire is burning on the sun.." Could be Global Warming. The phrase " Is this the end...or a rebirth? " could be pointing at one Indian tribe who's legends foretell of a great rebirthing of Earth and how humans will be destroyed or for the most part cleansed of everything evil (So Science/Tech/anything not natural) While the Mayan calender just stops going, or how Nibiru is coming up between Earth and the Sun, cause Earths rotation to stop for 3 days, when that happens basically think of all natural disasters you've ever heard of, now let them run loose on earth at the same time while on steroids. Also "Fire is burning on the sun..." could signify the ozone depletion and how it'll burn the Earth up pretty soon. As far as "the line is drawn up in the sand" could be talking about how the set date is 2012 and yet we still march foreward to it in defiance.

Again it's all about how you perceive it and from what stand point. I'd like to hear others thoughts on this and if anyone wants to add or take away from mine go ahead, or tell your own interpretation.

For me it sounds like hes asking earth why all these things are happening

Mother, are we flying through the universe? Are we dying through the universe? We are crying to you Mother

the fire on the sun killing almost everyone could be global warming,

the acid rain falling on the streets of shams sounds to me like hes saying that were the cause of it for falling on us.

Reminds me of "Suite Pee" in its invocation of something female.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.
