The Last, The Lost, The Least Lyrics
Life a life of privilege,
Pushing back the last, the lost, the least of these,
To dull the edge of conscience with conceit.
Live a life and see the world,
Feel its weight on the shoulders of the least of these.
It spins and twirls without rest or relief.
We all, we all wear dignity.
It covers the strong, the weak.
We all, we all wear dignity.
Even the last, the lost, the least.
Step into a spacious place,
Where pride and right will give way to the least of these,
To know the face of who a man can be.
We all, we all wear dignity.
It covers the strong, the weak.
We all, we all wear dignity.
Even the last, the lost, the least.
His image shown,
When we give our lives, our time, our own,
To feed, to clothe,
Those in His image we have left alone.
We all, we all wear dignity.
It covers the strong, the weak.
We all, we all wear dignity.
Even the last, the lost, the least.
We all, we all wear dignity.
God help the blind like me.
Finding at last a voice we cry,
And see with clear, unblinking eyes.
Pushing back the last, the lost, the least of these,
To dull the edge of conscience with conceit.
Feel its weight on the shoulders of the least of these.
It spins and twirls without rest or relief.
It covers the strong, the weak.
We all, we all wear dignity.
Even the last, the lost, the least.
Where pride and right will give way to the least of these,
To know the face of who a man can be.
It covers the strong, the weak.
We all, we all wear dignity.
Even the last, the lost, the least.
When we give our lives, our time, our own,
To feed, to clothe,
Those in His image we have left alone.
It covers the strong, the weak.
We all, we all wear dignity.
Even the last, the lost, the least.
God help the blind like me.
Finding at last a voice we cry,
And see with clear, unblinking eyes.

no comments? this song is amazing im not too sure about this one, but to me it means that no matter who you are or who you thunk you are, you are not above or below helping those in need in the name of god im not a huge christian but i agree with that, if thats even what they are trying to say
"His image shown, When we give our lives, our time, our own, To feed, to clothe, Those in His image we have left alone."
pretty much saying that every one was created in the image of god himself, and when we help those in need, we reflect that image, but when we chose not to do anything for those people, we are leaving alone people in his image
just a thought : )
I love this song, but that's not saying much since I love the whole album. :D
I guess I don't really know what this song means either. I agree with avachaise, I guess. I also think it means that no matter what you lose, you always have your dignity, whether you're strong, weak, rich or poor. Therefore, since we're all the same, why shouldn't we help those less fortunate?
i love this song...it's really good..well i love the whole album but this song totally rocks i agree with avachaise all the way!!
This is the best one on the new one. The vocals are so great. And I love the chorus, how he says dignity. It's great.
Yeah, AvAchaise is on the money.
im not sure if this is correct but personally i think it's saying that everyone is equel and made in the imidge of God that way we all have dignity and pride, even thou we might not feel like at and are Losers (the last the lost the least, is in of humnity, make sense?)
Thats what i take from it, that even if we feeling lost or at the bottom of humaninty we still have dignity and God still will help everyone no matter the situation
again just my 2 cence....
the song is weirder.... :/
To me, this song is saying that anyone who knows God can 'wear dignity'
I don't think it's saying that anyone who knows God can wear dignity, because the last, the lost, the least of these is refering to.. well, the last, the lost, the least. Kind of self-explanatory, really. Those who find themselves pushed aside and ignored, despite their very real needs, be it spiritual needs or those of the material sort. I think, the song is about pouring yourself out so that those who are broken may become whole. In this, God is revelealed, because this is what God looks like. We are all made in God's image, and for this reason, God views us all as equal and desires we live as such. My (probably wrong) interpretation.
@calebj93 I think that dignity doesn't disclude the last, the lost, and the least. He says " we all have dignity- even the last, the lost, the least"
@calebj93 I think that dignity doesn't disclude the last, the lost, and the least. He says " we all have dignity- even the last, the lost, the least"
Matthew 25 41 Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.42For I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink,43I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.’44Then they also will answer, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to you?’45Then he will answer them, saying, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.’46And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.” This is what this song reminded me of, especially when it said,"His image shown, When we give our lives, our time, our own, To feed, to clothe, Those in His image we have left alone."
