Give me the green light, give me just one night
I'm ready to go right now, I'm ready to go right now (let's go)

I'm ready to go right now, I'm ready to go right now

I see you move, I'm checking your smile
Working your back like it's going out of style
Shake just a little bit faster
Shake just a little now girl
Dying to meet you, so let's mess around
Got an obsession with us getting down
Come just a little bit closer
I just need permission, so

Give me the green light, give me just one night
I'm ready to go right now, I'm ready to go right now
We can go all night, give me the green light
I'm ready to go right now, I'm ready to go right now (let's go)

A-one, two, three, green light, but if it's what it seems like
The you moving baby, lets me know that it's gon' be right (I'm)
I'm ready to go right now (I'm), I'm ready to go right now

A-one, two, three, red light, I wanna see what you dance like
But if I be your buddy, get you studied, is your head right? (I'm)
I'm ready to go right now (I'm), I'm ready to go right now

Do I have a girlfriend, technically no
If you'll be my girlfriend then I'll make it so
You'll be my only true lover
No competition, no other (no other)
Maybe it's just the thrill of the chase
But I've got a feeling that I'm winning this race
Baby I'm gettin' closer, I just need permission, so

So I went hard like Medusa staring at me
I told her let's go, let's blow this lame nigga factory
She said, "What kind of girl do you think I are?
The kind that you meet in a bar?
You think you can get whatever you want 'cause you some kinda star"
No I'm a comet, I just want you woman
Hey, if I were you, it would be me that I go home with
Three, the one and only, one thing you ain't considered
I heard you when you told your girl, "Ooh he can get it," admit it
You did it, let's hop a cab and split it
I'm kiddin', we both going to where you livin'
Ha, I got you gigglin' like I'm piglet
Oh that's the ticket?
I hope you're more like Anita Baker than Robin Givens
No, I don't know that lady so let me quit it
I'm just style freein', freestylin' which y'all seldom do
This is what I'm telling you (I'm ready to go right now)
To the bed I'm nailing you
Like I've been in jail for two (I'm ready to go right now)
Years and then they let me loose

Give me the green light, give me just one night (you got you one, Legend, sometimes you gotta step from behind that piano)
I'm ready to go right now (let 'em know what's going on), I'm ready to go right now (even Stevie Wonder got down sometimes)
We can go all night, give me the green light (I'm ready to go)
I'm ready to go right now (my man Nate can't wait), I'm ready to go right now (participate)

I'm ready to go right now, I'm ready to go right now
(Ready to go) I'm ready to go right now, I'm ready to go right now

Both as a standalone and as part of the DSOTS album, you can take this lyric as read. As a matter of public record, Jourgensen's drug intake was legendary even in the 1980s. By the late 90s, in his own words, he was grappling with massive addiction issues and had lost almost everything: friends, spouse, money and had nearly died more than once. "Dark Side of the Spoon" is a both funny & sad title for an album made by a musical genius who was losing the plot; and this song is a message to his fans & friends saying he knows it. It's painful to listen to so I'm glad the "Keith Richards of industrial metals" wised up and cleaned up. Well done sir.

Techno Ted
Audioslave
Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
