it's possible that "product of my surroundings" means he's talking about himself in the first line, that he has no more love trust respect or loyalty for others because of what he sees around him every day or it could mean that there isn't anymore love, trust, respect or loyalty and soon he's going to become a product of that himself
what exactly does he mean by saying "product of my surroundings mean"
i love this intro.
I would have to disagree with boyconstrictor on this. I think that by saying product of my surroundings he is talking about the "young, rich and out of control." By saying "there is no more love, trust, respect or loyalty" he is talking about how so many young kids today go around living their lives in a manner that is harmful to themselves and people around them because they dont live their lives with respect or love for the things around them or themselves.
He follows up with the line "product of my surroundings" because he doesnt blame the out of control kids of today for being the ones to live without respect and love, he blames society, family life and the media bullshit that all those kids are surrounded by for corrupting them into a loveless, disrespectful lifestyle.
thats my interpretation anyway =P
It goes along well with the lyrics of "You're More Like Friend Without the R" where he says he's "lost faith in everyone" and is burning his bridges. He doesn't care anymore. He's a product of his surroundings, which have no love, trust, respect or loyalty.
a product usually means what's been created (in chemistry) so I THINK it could mean... he is the way he is because of his surroundings i.e. influences from friends, society, family, neighbourhood etc.
