Go West Lyrics

like a ghost
emptiness haunted his years
still his heart was made of nothing less than good
insecure narration in his head
something less than schizophrenia
creeping him with every move
that he makes
breath he takes
a pitiful walk alone
to his empty home
where he'll lay and he'll sleep by himself

go west young man
your future is untold
you can find your dreams on the california coast
go west young man
your future isn't too
far away

she hates me
and I know it because she said so
and I forgot my notebook
and my socialist manifesto
will it be a tragedy
or a comedy
the choice is up to you
life can lead you along on a leash
or you can break free and run on your own
don't waste your life
go and live your life
Llke it's the last day here on this earth

go west young man
your future is untold
you can find your dreams on the california coast
go west young man
your future isn't too
far away

don't waste your life
go live your life
like it's your last day here on this earth

go west young man
your future is untold
you can find your dreams
on the california coast
go west young man
your future isn't too
far away

go west young man
your future is untold
you can find your dreams on the california coast
go west!

i get this idea its about "On the Road" by Jack Kerouac

I woke up as the sun was reddening; and that was the one distinct time in my life, the strangest moment of all, when I didn't know who I was – I was far away from home, haunted and tired with travel, in a cheap hotel room I'd never seen, hearing the hiss of steam outside, and the creak of the old wood of the hotel, and footsteps upstairs, and all the sad sounds, and I looked at the cracked high ceiling and really didn't know who I was for about fifteen strange seconds. I wasn't scared; I was just somebody else, some stranger, and my whole life was a haunted life, the life of a ghost. I was halfway across America, at the dividing line between the East of my youth and the West of my future. ~ Jack Kerouac

It just seemed to remind me of that part, IDK maybe i'm off

whenever i listen to this song, i am always reminded of The Grapes of Wrath.

Could be about going west to California to fulfill ones dreams, but end up not getting what you expected.

I think its about the film stranger then fiction bcoz its about a lonley guy hu gets a narrator hu says he's going to die nd he then tries to find out wot stroy he's in "commedy or tragedy" nd then just starts living out his life nd enjoying until he finds the author :)

I got this album today--it's awesome, so far this is probably one of my favorites. It sounds quite folky like Against Me!

Whenever I hear this song, I immediately think of my awesome AP US History class and the wildness of the west during the California Gold Rush. I think it's cool that they fit some CGR association, although I think that people during that time were anything but socialist.
