The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. funkyfishfingers is right in that the title means "this game." It's basically about two people(presumably Yelle and some guy) flirting with each other.
I interpreted this song as a song merely about how a majority of relationships work these days, and how the mess and chaos is what makes the relationship so thrilling, but yet can grow tiresome.
After being with him for a while, she knew that ignoring him would get him to come to her, crying for her attention. And at the same time, he's got her spellbound by his little 'traps' that are so easy for her to fall for.
She (like a majority of people, including myself), doesn't want a relationship to be perfect; she doesn't want everything to add up to some kind of perfect equation. She loves this 'game' that they play with each other, but even too much mess becomes more tiresome than fun.
Also, she turns around and says during the 'break', "I turn my back to leave. You know that I won't hurt you.", that's such a perfect way to put how we may feel in relationships; we get driven to the point to leave, or we deliberately make it seem like we want to leave so that way there's a little more of a mess, but in the end, there is no malice intended towards the love-interest.
