Point Me Toward The Morning Lyrics
(Wooo)
Eternity, eternity
Is just a paycheck away
So chase your tail, chase your tail
The American tale
Apathy, complacency,
Can I hear three cheers for thee?
No? Oh well
Ohhhhh
We know, we know
That we are more than this
More than we know
There's a reason we exist
We know, we know, we know!
We won't be this easily dismissed
Commute work commute sleep
We got cars at home to feed
Left my hair, left my hair
Strands of myself in the sink
Nothing to say, nothing to say
'Cause that's all they want to hear
Ohhhhh
We know, we know
That we are more than this
More than we know
There's a reason we exist
We know, we know, we know!
We won't be this easily dismissed
So point me toward the morning
Can you point me toward the morning?
Someone point me toward the morning
No more is it a sure thing
So point me toward the morning
Can you point me toward the morning?
Someone point me toward the...
The apartment complex reeks
Of old takeout Chinese
At night the ventilation speaks
Russian and Cantonese
Ohhhhh
We know, we know
That we are more than this
More than we know
There's a reason we exist
We know, we know, we know!
We won't be this easily dismissed
Ohhhhh
We know, we know
That we are more than this
(We are more than this)
More than we know
There's a reason we exist
We know, we know, we know!
We won't be this easily dismissed
No, we won't be so easily dismissed

my favorite from the new album so far, i absolutely love it.
(?)= "Can I hear three cheers for these?"
I love this song! It rocks. And it might give a generation or two something to think of in terms of their future and their government. But, hey, how would I know what the composer was thinking? Just seems that way to me! And good for the Matches if that's what they're implying!
To me this song is talking about dullness and repeditiveness of live and being ignored. I love this song.
Hmm, on second thoughts, I think it may be about getting into the music industry. Kepping on going and fighting no matter how much you get puched back. Much better:)
I don't think this song is about the government.. at all. The song seems more to be about getting into the rut of daily life.
Commute work, commute sleep We got cars at home to feed
Yeah, the whole 'point me toward the morning; no more is it a sure thing' seems to be living in the wake of terror, not knowing whether today will be your last or not...
Basically, it's the anxieties and problems that face everyone in day-to-day life, or at least that's my take.
I think this might have something to do with the matches almost giving up on themselves after decomposer flopped on the charts... but then realizing that they aren't the type to back off so easily... but! they are still unsure about the futrue... I dont know... something like that...
they kinda changed their style on the new album, a band in hope. except for a couple songs, including this one. probably because they arent doing so well. still love them and their new songs though.
This isn't new, by any means... I like what they did though. The original, "Sing Outside the Lines" is from the days of The Locals.
I think this song is definitely about them trying to make it in the music business. When decomposer flopped they kinda tried to switch things up.
"Left my hair, left my hair Strands of myself in the sink Nothing to say, nothing to say 'Cause that's all they want to hear" thats talking about how shawn cut his hair cause a kid said he looked like davey havok and he left the strands in the hotel sink.
"Ohhhhh We know, we know That we are more than this More than we know There's a reason we exist We know, we know, we know! We won't be this easily dismissed"
they know theyre better than what theyre getting credit for in the music world. they have a different style and sound and theyre not going to give up trying to make because they know "theres a reason they exist"
its just about trying to stay true to themselves and get their music out there
