Take My Hand

This is my favourite song on their new album...Simple Plan is like that stuffed animal in the back of your closet, LOVED them when you were younger and you'll never be able to "throw them out". This song is pretty straight forward, about a relationship that no one says will work, but he's saying to take his hand and they'll find somewhere together. They know that they'll be together forever. The verse that starts of with "the raindrops" is about how the other is the "light", and I think that the "take me home" part is about how the person can make him feel safe, loved, and bring him back to the place he feels most comfortable with. Dunno if that makes sense to you but it does to me (:

Pretty straight forward as marlee pointed out. It's all about a romance everyone said would not work out because of the problems that "everybody's got". He's telling her to forget about everything and everyone else, the past and the future, and focus on the here and now "tonight".

One thing though is the "One last time" implies an impending separation that's coming up. Thoughts?

maybe the he's saying the take his hand 'one last time' because there is a problem in the relationship that they can't help like they have to be physically separated for whatever reasons (college, business, moving away, problems with other people etc) so they have only a limited time to be together. they think about separating and giving up on the relationship but then realize how much it means to them. they could get through or cope with whatever problems they're facing, so they keep trying. when he's saying to 'don't let me go' and 'don't let me let you go' he's saying 'don't give up on me', and 'don't let me give up on you', because they're meant to be together.

there are times when he has doubts but remembers how much he cares for her, and it gets him to keep trying.

I agree with the comments above on the meaning of the song.

I just wish I felt as confident as Pierre about my relationship. =/

This song, in my opinion is the best song on the new record. I really love 'the city sleeps' verse. It's so beautifully romantic.

maybe 'one last time' means they'll never let go ????

Simple Plan, I've never really focused on their music yet whenever I listen to them they..are like just there for me. This song I first loved for the first four lines of the verse (Sometimes I feel like everybody's got a problem Sometimes I feel like nobody wants to solve them). Since like I know people with their own situations no matter who/what they are by looks and it's just upsetting how while some get helped the rest are on their own..

I guess (esp from the verse w/ 'the city sleeps') "Take My Hand" is basically to do with saving or ending a relationship after everyone else's doubts for that love and to take his hand for things to harden up so the pain wouldn't hurt so much- but personally for me in a way is not giving up hope with bonds and in the end those people would be there for you even in your heart. At least a few times I've lost everything with friends from being unfaithful or 'for the better'.

Damn catchy song, but sounds quite generic. I swear, I've heard chords like these way too many times.
