While We Wait Lyrics
It feels right
It feels wrong
It feels like when you have it, then it's gone
I want more
More and more
And if you steal the fire
Give me some
Cause the sun
Disobeys while it waits for a friend to arrive from the past
What holds us around, and around
While we wait
It feels wrong
It feels like when you have it, then it's gone
I want more
More and more
And if you steal the fire
Give me some
Cause the sun
Disobeys while it waits for a friend to arrive from the past
What holds us around, and around
While we wait

i don't knw what it means, but I LOVE IT
i think this song is written from the eyes of the whole world, and life on it in general (also why the song is too short). the sun disobeying, is saying it will do as it will, without regards. and the friend we wait for is, well, up to you. could be the sun waiting for someone to shine on, could be Jesus, could be your true love. i like how it's vague enough for interpretation.
Every album of Jack Johnsons has a short song that seems to make little sense to me. I cannot even start to figure this one out... I can't even stand to listen to it... not because it's a bad song, but because I don't understand it. Kevinhansen... your interpretation is the best I've heard, but the only I've heard. Thanks for your help!
I would not have a clue what this song is about, but it doesnt matter, his voice is so beautiful that he can make anything sound good.
Isn't it: Cause the sun dissipates... not Disobeys. Makes sense then guys.
to me this song sounds like its about whispers sex. lol read the lyrics again, youll get what i mean. but who knows? peaaaace :)
oh good one Jam-face! It's possible.
oh and it is dissipates!
Well, to me this song is about my situation. Just got things going with this girl but she had just gotten out of a 4-5 year relationship. This have been really good for the first 2-3 weeks but we just had a talk cause she isn't ready to get back in a relationship. So to me the song is about getting a glimpse of something so right, but having it taken from you. "feels like when you have it, then it's gone". and so right now im just waiting for a friend to arrive from the past. hoping that there is still some sun left (our feelings for eachother) when she finally does arrive. I don't know, this song seemed pretty straight forward to me, mostly cause of my situation.
I personally like to think this song is hinting about something to come. The return of a friend from the past. Possibly Nibiru? The retrun of the Anunaki, an alien race from the past said to have created Homo-Sapiens as we know 'em. Of course we've changed much in thousands of years. If you look into ancient religions and compare to modern ones you will see eerie similarities. They all tell basically the same story. If the planet Nibiru is to return we would see it in the sky as it approaches, another sun-like object perhaps? A friend from the...

As for the rest of the song, I can not make any good observations. Its very short. What could we be waiting for? Salvation? A new era of enlightment perhaps? The interpretations are endless. Research the Annunaki.
Mmm... I think it's more about the fact that human nature drives us to always 'want more.' Whatever our goals, we reach them and always see something better, we can never be satisifed...I think the song is about our feelings while we do that- how desperate we are, and lost. The second we have something, it isn't enough, and we have to start aiming for something else. It refers to the feelings at the moment when we realize that we're reckless and insatiable creatures that will stop at nothing to get what we want. And when we do get what we want....all of the brightness that was once surrounding it dissapears, because it's not enough. It's talking about how we need something to redeem us- the fire (or sun) burns out while we wait for something with meaning to come along with it. But it doesn't- we can't go back to the past, and the past can't come to us. The word choice 'past' indicates that it's an endless cycle that sucks away our soul. We will never be satisfied with what we have. We will always want more. It's a sad song; human nature in its truest form. We want, we want, and we want. And when we get... it's not enough. It will never be.
from the past while it pulls us around and around while we wait
