I was standing at the side of the road
with my thumb towards the sky
and I'll go which ever way the wind blows
I've got patients I've got time
This alcomino pulls aside the driver yells
"hey let's go"
I roll the Window down to cope with his
cigarette smoke
His eyes were tired his faced was lined
His voice was coarse while he spoke
He asked me if I ever learned to shoot a firearm

and I remeber
as I was just a boy
playing shot 'em up
We'd be makin' so much noise
we were cowboys we were indians
we were playin' with toys
it was the first time
i wrapped my fingers round a firearm

and as were driving down this long road
His questions soon revealed a plot
He said I'm heading west to Yellowstone
boy I'm runnin' from the law

the sheriff back home got a warrant out for my arrest
The girl I knew she was a tramp
I put her to the test
seven rounds into her lover
saved the last one for her chest
never thought I would be the type to shoot a firearm

and I remeber
as I was just a boy
playing shot 'em up
We'd be makin' so much noise
we were cowboys we were indians
we were playin' with toys
it was the first time
i wrapped my fingers round a firearm

Bodies of forbidden lover
in the trunk of his car
heading west to yellowstone,
we drove until it got dark
Thats when we saw
the flashing lights behind us
cops were not to far
From the Glove box
thats when he pulled out a firearm

and through the evergreens
this dusty narrow road did wind
heading the top of the
highest discarment we could find
over the edge the alcomino drove
the four of us inside

shoulda been afaird of heights instead of firearms

and I remeber
as I was just a boy
playing shot 'em up
We'd be makin' so much noise
we were cowboys we were indians
we were playin' with toys
it was the first time
i wrapped my fingers round a firearm

Fortnight
Taylor Swift
The song "Fortnight" by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word "fortnight" shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
