They thought it was cool to tare down the projects and put up million dollar condos gentrification

Smfh. Why do ya'll come on here to diss the songs? It's the art of spoken word which alot of people wouldn't understand; the emphasis put on certain words and the way she's speaking is for a purpose. It is a form of poetic expression. People are so desensitized to art and the meaning behind things from listening to the mind deteriorating rap crap that we hear everyday. I think its beautiful what she's saying...and I don't have a problem with the way she speaks.

That writing is littered with spelling mistakes and words missing from teh actual track...

Who is Katrina?

It's referring to Hurricane Katrina. "Leave you thirsty and strand, Katrina"

The government failed in bringing fresh water and other supplies to the victims of Katrina in New Orleans until days after the disaster.

I don't like how she's recites it either, nor do I really like anyone citing "slam" poetry of any kind as most people use the same kind of voice intonations. However, when she gets to the end and says "before you overdose on the cool" I do think that part is actually pretty good and effective, and I guess that's the point.

I thought I was the only one who thought she was annoying. I also agree with what she is saying but cannot stand how she says katrinaaaaa. I have listened to this album more than 10 times and this is the only song I skip bc of her voice. With that said Lupe is still the best rapper hands down

Ps. Lupe is the hottest lyricist of the 21st century.
